Because you can feel good until you get into the ring, but it don't necessarily mean you will feel good once the real fight starts. In one of my fights I went down in weight to fight and although I felt good, I didn't know how my legs would feel in the ring. And that is where everything goes wrong..your legs feel like cement and you can't move. So you can feel good but can you perform well when your actually going to fight and not sparring? That is the question.

.....get the kid some descent work at 140 and see where his chin is at.....THEN you can talk some WW ****.....but as for now the kid is labeled chinny and until he takes some shots like a man he'll just be considered a chinny kid!!.....I got faith in Amir at 140.....but 147?.....nah!!!

Cotto's chin was questionable ata 140. At 147 he is sturdy. Perhaps Khan will have the same success.Comment

Nope, but Cotto had to get there, and getting there is a *****. It weakens you to a point you can't recover from in 24 hours. Get your body fat down to the 2% range and it becomes evident how much difference 1 pound really is. Cotto agreed to the terms of a GIANT payday and has nothing to complain about, but that doesn't mean his abilities wern't diminished, which was the plan. Quoth the Roach "If Cotto weighs one ounce over 145 I will pull Manny out".Comment

For sure. Khan is damn tall for 140, let alone 135 - he should never go back down that low again. If his speed stays intact, he should definitely give 147 and 154 a try. He's so young that his frame has all the time in the world to mature.
As for chins, I bet his chin is already tons better at a higher weight. I have this feeling he won't get "sparked out" like everyone says. He'll absorb and dust off those punches, watch. :wnk1:Comment

I concur man. Thanks for that. But how come boxers go through this process so often? Money? What else could it be, right? Dangerous business boxing is.Because you can feel good until you get into the ring, but it don't necessarily mean you will feel good once the real fight starts.
