    Cotto has the stronger jab.

Mayweather has the more tactical jab.

So it depends what you mean by "better".

By "better" i mean whose jab would be more effective against Manny Pacquiao.

Is this supposed to be a serious question?? You can run laps around Cotto's slow ass jabs..

Mayweather has the better jab by far. It's more technical, accurate and faster.

I'm not a ***** but we already saw what Cotto's jabs did to Many.. Basically nothing. I think Mayweather's jabs will have a larger affect on Manny since, as I said before, Floyd has the more technical, accurate and faster jab than Cotto.

While Cotto threw 1 jab, Mayweather would throw 3 and move away to the left before getting caught.

Cotto could have kept Manny off with his jab if he used it more.

Pac will walk right through Mayweather's jab which is more of a flick, not a stiff hard punch. If Mayweather throws his jab to the body, Pac is fast enough to catch him with a right hook like Judah did. Maybe KO him.

            So in that case, Cotto.

I was asking myself that very question and could not quite decide because their jabs are different so i wanted to see what other people thought.
srry my bad... this site has me always jumping the gun.

well i would say this, cotto's jab stops you dead in you tracks. Floyds breaks your rhythm again and again. it's mad accurate too. he can pump it all night.

this fight with floyd i think manny is going to have to out box/ work him for the win. bring so much pressure it bursts pipes! If he carries the fight he will get the UD.

overall mayweather has a better jab, much quicker and accurate he used it very well against marquez...

only good thing about cottos jab is that it has power behind it

I was on the same train of thought until I watched the Pac-Cotto replay on HBO. Cotto's jab was his most effective punch against Pacquiao. It snapped Pac's head back on several occassions and stopped him dead in his tracks when he advanced.

Mayweather has a long reach on his jab which would allow him to keep distance and sidestep Pacquiao's attacks but as far as pop and ability to wear down Pacquiao with it....im not so sure Mayweather would be able to do as well as Cotto.

A jab normally isn't about doing damage. Its about disrupting momentum and rhythm of your opponent..and setting up the bigger shots.

That's pretty much the consensus purpose for a jab, although Pacquiao has a unique ability of using a right jab to blind the opponent and then shoot a lightning straight left behind the jab that his opponent never sees.

It's pretty much his bread and butter.
