Dawson is worthless on the inside. He gets hurt badly every time he tries to fight in close (Johnson first fight, Tarver second fight). His chin is worse than Ward's. Chad is hurt in every other fight. Ward fought Miranda and Kessler back-to-back and wasn't hurt. Ward can mix it up a lot better than Chad can. He can do it without screwing himself over. He sees and slips punches a lot better than Dawson. Chad is an elite ranged boxer with speed, but he is limited to that. Ward can do that too, maybe not as good as Chad, but he can do more than that. That is what versatility is. Being able to excel in multiple areas. I personally think Ward is the better fighter, but he's definitely more versatile and intelligent than Dawson.
Ward is a way better fighter than Chad Dawson and would beat him.

People need to quit hyping up Dawson as the guy to take Calzaghe's 0, which hasn't been done here lately too much and rightfully so. Andre Ward would beat Chad Dawson. And a Calzaghe-Ward fight is up in the air to me. I wasn't impressed with Ward in his fight with Miranda, but even Ward was honest with himself that night and said that he would perform better under a bigger stage. Ward is the truth. Abraham only has a puncher's chance against him, and his ear muff defense might make it hard for Ward to land. But Abraham would be more competitive than Kessler was.
The whole point of this thread though is to give praise to a fighter who deserves it and not a fighter who pitty pats to victories like Chad Dawson does.Comment

Oh and Dawson's took Glen Johnson's best shots and was never knocked down once.
Tomasz Adamek knocked down Dawson and he wasn't even fazed.
Dawson's chin>>>>>>Ward's chin.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 11-25-2009, 03:55 AM.Comment

My god you are pathetic. your hate for Dawson is borderline obsessive and psychotic. We get it, you don't like Chad Dawson. Ok, move on. Dawson picks ward apart by the way in relatively easy fashion. Thank you though for this thread. I have finally come to the conclusion you are absolutely not worth reading about on any topic. Good luck hating Chad Dawson, hope it works out for you.Comment

As for the bold part, that might because Ward hasn't been in an actual fight against someone who is actually good enough to test him. Early in their fight, Miranda was actually able to tag him with a series of consecutive right hands when he jabbed his way in and both Kessler and Miranda were able to corner him at certain points so like i said, he still has a lot of things to work on. However, he does have room to grow and pound for pound he could one day become as dominate as Dawson, he just hasn't proved enough to be mentioned up there yet( especially with Dawson who is an established champion and a near pound for pound candidate).Last edited by slicksouthpaw16; 11-25-2009, 07:32 AM.Comment
