Yeah, even allowing for a slight deterioration from the fighter of 2, 3 years ago -- though for reasons other than his soul being took by Joe, which wasn't the case -- it should now be very clear that any version of Kessler gets a hell of a difficult night from Andre Ward.

Was Ward's style plus Kessler is very one demionsial. Granted it's a good one demision, Kessler is still a one demionsial fighter who can't adapt. Ward and Calzaghe both took advantage of that.

        Ward's style and tactics:

        - home referee who lets him get away with everything
        - many deliberate headbutts to cut Kessler over the eyes and on the cheek
        - hold Kessler's right arm while hitting and headbutting

Also add the fact that Calzaghe fought Kessler while he had an injured hand. Other than inactivity, there was no problems with Kessler tonight that nobody knew of.

ward's headspeed and footspeed is too much, but the headbutting and hold-n-hit made it alot tougher for kessler

The main questions I had coming into this:

              1. Could Kessler deal with Ward's movement and speed?--No
              2. Could Kessler deal with the infighting?--No
              3. Could Kessler adapt?--No

I see a ton of excuses. Give Ward credit he pretty much shut out Kessler. Kessler had chances to try to time Ward coming in and land something. He couldn't and stuck to the same game plan. He was schooled.

ward was beating kessler to the punch before the head clashes and was fighting effectively in the clinch unlike kessler .

Ward looked excellent, its a shame he can be ugly at times, otherwise he'd be a lot more exciting. But he gave Kessler way more bite than I thought, and I felt it would be a close, right down to the wire, fight.

Kessler will be back. If he can't beat Froch then we know the Viking's soul has indeed been vanquished.
