Calzaghe was avoided like the plague and had no choice but to keep busy!!!! better fighter! worst resume!!! CALZAGHE!!!
Take away the blown ups from Hopkins record and you get:
Allen*3, Echols*2, Lipsey, 18 losses Council, 13 Losses Johnson, 12 Losses Brown, Hakkar, Eastman and Mercado who Hopkins went life and death with in their first fight.
Hopkins is now risking everything by taking on the legendary Ornelias

This resumes is better than Calzaghes resume ?

is calzaghe a good fighter? yes. is he a great? no

simply because he didnt step up and take on the big challenges or big names at the right time of his career. we will never honestly know if we would have been great he never really took them risks, its allway " joe would have beaten prime roy or hopkins.

for example ricky hatton could possibly have stayed undefeated longer if he stayed in the uk, but he took on the biggest challenges he could and we soon found out his true level. its disapointing joe didnt step up and that why he cant be classed as a great cos we just dont know.

He tried to make a fight with Jones, Hopkins and Taylor, they all priced themselves out. Hopkins on the day the contracts were to be signed demanded an extra 3m. This is a guy who fought the invincible Hakkar for around 200K.

joe wanted to take them on but they priced themselves out of it.

Ricky was fortunate enough to have the circumstances there where he could face great opposition. Ricky was fortunate he is fighting at arguably the best boxing weight division in recent years,

These guys gotta defend Cal because that is there only hope for boxing recognition, and us ''the Yanks'' seem to have an almost endless supply of talent when it comes to boxing. So if he barely beat Hopkins in the eyes of the judges that night and stayed in Wales and fought an old Eubanks and cab drivers who might as well had been card board cut-outs, let them have it. We all know he didn't want to leave his little island until he knew it was safe to do so. By the way Welshmen God bless Ian Rush & Mark Hughes true sports legends from your country.

Calzaghe would have beaten Hopkins mercilessly if 'Nard had the balls to face him during his time.

The Calzaghe that turned up to fight Hopkins was so far past prime it was a joke. There was no speed or power anymore. Hopkins on the other hand was not very far removed from prime at all - he has always fought in that manner.
