However you know Mayweather always thinks outside the box and extends his promotion to reach third party networks and demographics that may not be reached by HBO so that should be a big boost. Also these two names pretty much sell themselves at this point.

Agreed. I've heard him promote on MIXTAPES a few times.

Unless you have HBO (in the States) your not up to date on boxing. SHOWTIME is ok but if you don't have either your out of luck in a way. ESPN is complete garbage when it comes to boxing. Interestingly enough I did see S.PIKE TV promote the Mayweather JMM fight. Boxing needs to get out to the general public on regular TV and Movie theaters/ DVD previews etc.

      • [QUOTE=BIGPOPPAPUMP;6737419]Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer flies to Las Vegas to begin negotiations with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum over lunch on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) in an effort to reach an agreement on a battle royale between reigning pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr who held that title before he retired two years ago. [QUOTE]

Roach said he need the time to teach Paquiao a whole new style against Mayweather or against Mayweathers habits as he says. Mayweather adjusts to any style so Roach has a lot of work ahead of him. Now if Mayweather wins the fight will Mayweather go down in history as one of the greatest fighters of all time and also as one of the greatest trainers of all time for out smarting Roach and every other trainer who has ever faced him. I mean Mayweather does not study his opponents tapes or anything and Paquiao will probably have a style he has never seen from him. So if Mayweather adjusts and wins how great is he in both aspects. Ive read some people say that Mayweather needs to knock out Paquiao to prove anything, but Paquiao has one of the best attacks ive seen both speed and power so if Mayweather can neutralize Paquiaos attack and when a decision there is something to be said. The same goes for Paquiao if he can break Mayweathers defense because it is also one of the best ive seen. Im have Mayweather winning a unanimous decision. I think Mayweather height and reach advantage along with a good jab are going to play a huge part. His foot work will also cause problems for Paquiao. Paquiao got hit a lot with the jab in the Cotto fight and when Cotto started moving Paquiao could not really get to him. Too bad for Cotto it was to late to start boxing and stop slugging. Mayweather by UD.

        • floyd is cool but he needs to stop contradicting himself because that is what makes him look like a fool. arrogance is cool but you have to back it up! who has he fought in the last 4 years to back up that statement.

the worst are floyd fans that dont see any wrong in what he does. that is blind nuthugging in my eyes.

I hope they promote this right. With TV commercial, Internet promos, radio, ect, ect, ect.

boxing needs to start using other ways of promoting fights!!
            My God, a true innovator.

It is beyond me how you aren't the Director of Marketing for HBO.

You talk as if floyd is blameless from all of these ****s. He had it coming proclaiming he's the best without backing it up. Yes he maybe good but to declare yourself to be the greatest and discredit all other boxers he hasn't faced or will face is simply incredulous.

You as sports fan, if you are really a sports fan should not be the one tolerating it. If you call boxing a sport, then where is the sportmanship? Why all we hear from him and his sides are all trash? It is understandable if it came from fans/*****s/******s or whatever but to hear it from the player himself, how can you respect that?

Now you will all say it's because of business he had to take the bad guy role, what bad guy role are you talking about? Is this the kind of roles you want your kids to look up to? Be a degenerate ****ing slob **** of a man? The hell i would raise my kids like that. WE all know boxing has gone down the drain in terms of respectability but do you really want it to go down to the pit and support it just because of money? Why, did you profit out of it watching two guys slug it out and play dirty? Of course not you didn't unless you're also in the business.

So let's go on the entertainment side, do you really think us casual fans pay to watch boxing to learn it or to be entertained? You do know the answer to that and pls don't say only hardcore boxings fans appreciate what floyd does in the ring, it's completely bull****! You are just tolerating the bull**** that's been going on by robbing people's hard earned money by bloating a featherweight and fight a cheating WW and then call it "schooling and sweet science", That's total crap! "science my ass"...

Do you really think i'm alone feeling it that way? Let me ask you, where does those money came from all these mega fights, from you hardcore boxing fans or from us casual fans? Of course from us casual fans! And do you people think we will put up with all this kind of crap?

So Fck U! you people pontificating here about all these ****s, your opinions is just as lame and as good as mine.
Yeah, talking of sports... shouldn't it be your goal to be the best. He believes he's the best... until somebody has proven him otherwise why shouldn't he think he's the best???

Sportsmanship? That's an big word dude. Floyd never cheated no one... he always came in shape to fights and that's as much respect you can give your opponent. After the fight, after a guy shared the same ring with him he was always respectful towards them. Like I said who cares about the antics. If you need a role model somebody that you can live your life after you have a problem. The only one who can guide you if you choose to is god... everything else has human touches... and if you choose to follow Floyd as your role model then it's your own fault. What you should follow is his discipline and craft that he has for his profession and not what he is saying outside of the ring. If you take evrything as real and true that somebody says you can commit suicide right now... or do you believe the ppl who rule over you (government) etc. I for once never said that Floyd doesn't have mistakes and nobody else does... the only reason why ppl bring it out because everything that Mayweather does is always seen as negative. He never gets the benefit of the doubt like everybody else does and that's what I'm pointing out. And if you give him credit for finally fighting Pacquiao you guys always have to add something to it that is still negative. You can't even say one positive sentence about him and that's what really amazes me because like I said... did he offended you personally... did he slaughtered your family or anything like that???

Well you know... if nobody wants to see him I really do ask myself why 1 Million bought a ''glorified'' mismatch against Marquez... nobody else would ever make a million or even close to with the exception of DLH probably. So some ppl obvisiouly want to see him... if it because they want him to loose it doesn't matter... they could also buy other ppv's if they want to... and a fight like Cotto-Pacquiao doing only 250k more is not a good sign... because this fight was percieved to be everything that boxing is about... two good prime fighters, high action fighters, two sportmanship kind of guys who are humble... and still it ain't got a lot more then a guy who can't draw and is boring fighting a guy who is a LW and has no chance of beating him. Mayweather is not and won't be the dead of boxing so don't worry about it.

I mean events with Ali, Leonard were that great because these guys bought the casual fan to it and that's what Floyd does... Pacquiao is probably starting to do that too... so this is big... I don't know why anybody should be blamed for this thing... be happy and enjoy it

                • If for you in 4 years with 2 years of layoff having 7 fights, winning 4 new championship belts in 3 weight divisions, defending 1 against Hatton, 1 welter tunup fight, and one comeback tuneup against JMM is not enough...then what have you done in the last 4 years??

Good or bad Champions thay were champions who he defeated and you have to respect that.

You may not like he's style, trash talk or whatever, but you have to recognize his skills and acomplishments, thatīs what makes this fight as good as it gets against PAC and viceversa...

                  Last 4 years:

June 25, 2005 WBC Super Lightweight Championship vs. Gatti

November 19, 2005 non-title bout at 147 lb (67 kg) against welterweight Sharmba Mitchell

April 8, 2006 Zab Judah for the IBF and vacant IBO world welterweight titles

November 4, 2006 WBC and The Ring welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir

May 5, 2007 WBC Super Welterweight titleholder Oscar De La Hoya

December 8, 2007 Ricky Hatton welterweight title defense

May 2, 2009 Juan Manuel Marquez welterweight bout

LMFAO....no way did you use Mayweather as a tuneup for SSM...

I agree PAC is hyped but you canīt possibly believe that, I guess the biggest event in the history of boxing will be a tuneup for PAC...lol

That is what boxers do, so Floyd could wipe the floor with Manny and win every single round but that does not mean it was an easy fight for Floyd. Atleast thats how I see things in boxing. I hope Pacquiao wins, but I don't see it happening, I live in reality not dreams.

Mayweather have only three things remaining in his arsenal he can brag of, his defense, accuracy and last and oftentimes he did used.. RUNNING! But as long as Pac can handle his power, he will walk through him straight and will pound him until he will extend his head out from his shell from relentless jolting, then May will be over!
