There wouldn't be any haters and doubters. One classic example is how high people put Roy Jones Jr. in the pound-for-pound list (no# 1), even though he does not have the resume of Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Oscar Dela Hoya.

For years, Roy Jones Jr. was the no# 1 pound-for-pound. They just based it on his showmanship.

Why is that? .... because Roy Jones Jr. is a black American. Just with little showmanship and victories, he was already regarded as number 1.

They just started to question his greatness, when he began to duck good fighters fight after fight, but in the very beginning, everyone was singing praises RIGHT AWAY!
How about if Mayweather is filipino, what would it be? just curious.

Now we read how Shane is done chasing those guys.....So let's see what happens when CINTRON, CLOTTEY AND PAUL WILLIAMS CALLS SHANE OUT!!!
You know what????? Shane ain't ducking nobody, he just wants the biggest payday he could get. He'll fight those guys, he is not just starting out he is ending up.

As long as he stays with trainer Hassim he will win against those guys you mentioned. All we need is a little time NOW that he is lined up with one, then the rest, mang , smiles !

I can't deny that I would like to see either one. I hope Mosley is not overlooking Berto though. Berto's speed can cause him some problems.

Mosley wasn't willing to wait forever for a Pacquiao fight and signed for a unification bout with WBC champion Andre Berto on January 30. [details]
Pac wont fight at 147, especially if its against Mayweather. At least without kicking and screaming he wont. He's scared to death of a WW at 147. More so in a 147lb Mayweather.

I would love to see May and SSM fight at 147 though. Pac crys all day until its at 145. Then again Mayweather ALWAYS picks on the smaller guys right? Pac can come in at his "best weight" of 145 without having a "catchweight"... always trying to get the uppr hand huh Pac? Just like Mayweather huh? Why is it ok for Pac to make these catchweights but not Mayweather?

I ask myself, "Was that really the best version of Cotto that Pacquiao fought?" I've always said that Mosley laid out the blue print to beat Cotto even though he may have come up a little short. From there on Cotto didn't look like that same wrecking machine that destroyed Quintana and Judah. The results speak for themselves. He back peddled against Margarito all night and he really lost that fight agaisnt Clottey if you take away the knockdown. I just think Cotto had a lot of wear and tear on his body even though he was a way better challenge than the guys Pac had previously fought since his war with JMM in the second fight.

People can overrate Mosley's win over Margarito as well, because Margarito went into that fight out of shape and you could tell from the moment of his ring walk to the refree's pre fight instructions. Mosley would still beat Margarito ten times out of ten though. The only way you could tell if Mosley was better than Pac and vice versa is if they fought each other in a head-to-head match up. I view it as a toss up fight, and I'll have to see how Mosley does against Berto to get a better measuring stick.

Pacquiao should not be ranked over Mosley period though. He's only had two fights at 147 with one being a catch weight fight and Mosley was the linear champ at one time and just beat a guy who had mauled Cotto into submission. And Ring would lose all credibility if they don't put him back in the #1 spot if he unifies the WBC and WBA titles by beating Berto.
i disagree, i agree that mosley is #1 but not because pac defeats a less-cotto.

mosley is #1 because pac only has 1 legit fight at WW

Pac has one "legit" "WW" fight at 145... a "catchweight". When Mayweather does this ***** move of a catchweight people cry and complain.

Why not now? Now that someone else does it, its ok? As long as Mayweather doesn't get the upper hand its ok? How does this work?

I do know this is why Mayweather complains about Pac and how they get treated differently. Mayweather does something and its consiered wrong. Pac does the same thing and its ok....

This is just like a woman's logic; When the man is considered to be in the wrong and the woman does the exact same thing its considered to be "different"........ according to women.....

                    Double standards?

Back to the point, Mosley is #1 at WW. Pacs just trying to get everyone to come down in weight just as Mayweather is always trying to get people to go up in weight.
