You could say that boxing styles and training methods have DEVELOPED over the years but humans are basically the same genetically as they were 10000 years ago and probably since about 50000 years ago (apart from small mutations like lactose tolerance and immunity to black plague etc)

        Consider this.

50 years ago the 100m sprinting record was 10.1 seconds. Bolt's current record is 9.58 more THAN HALF A SECOND faster. That's insane considering we're talking about a sport that comes down to 1/100 of a second.

The modern athlete has evolved dramatically the past few decades due to significant advances in nutrition and science, and it is far more significant than you think.

no thats got nothing to do with evolution. Just knowing whats possible, more scientific methods of training, more time training and the actual individuals who are in the sport. Things like endorsements meaning that an athlete doesn't have to work a regular job and can spend more time training.
If a law was passed that said "Only people who can sprint above a certain speed are allowed to have kids" then only fast sprinters would be breeding and slow people wouldnt so you'd have a situation where a high pecentage of children would be born with the right physical attributes for fast sprinting. Thats how evolution works - hey, I didnt write the books but there are plenty to read.

SRR was not faster than Floyd.

But when has speed ever dictated who's better or who'd win?

If it were that way, Judah would have beaten everyone he's ever faced. RJJ still wouldn't have a loss in his career. And Dirrell would have gave Froch the beating of his life. SMH @ nuthuggers.

And more importantly in terms of evolutionary process, how did it help them have more babies than regular people?

And sprinting has nothing to do with boxing anyway.
I'd say people lived harder cleaner lives which would make them better suited for boxing than we are today without our modern supplements.
^^^I mean the average person ^^^ so really it has little do with evolution and more to do with lifestyles of the times.

If there was an ISOLATED island where you had a SMALL population of humans, some built and behaving like Floyd and others being different then you could say that people on that island might eventually evolve to be more like Floyd if the Floyds on that island mated and had MORE OFFSPRING that anyone else on the island due to the fact that they could fight off the others for mating rights or that they were more fertile or more attractive. Silly example but thats how evolution/natural selection works in a nut shell.
Imagine all the boxing gold medals, though
The Islands GDP would be through the roof to, they gets da money.
