That is all great and fine, and I'm glad you typed all that out. Unfortunately in boxing their is other divisions, and they DO matter. That is why the P4P best fighter in the world is NOT, a HW.
Your response also has NOTHING to do with the thread title.
Who was the most dominant in THEIR prime? The fact that Roy DOMINATED in his prime for 10 years and Tyson for, FOUR?
Matters.
We can get a division like the 141 pound division. Somebody can dominate there for a long time and we can call him the best. Hell, let's throw in a 95 pound midget division.
Each division can also be every single pound up so we can grab more titles. From 140 to 150...that's 10 division Champ
That's all I'm saying.
When I look at, the HWs are really the Kings. That's why Louis was bigger than Armstrong in his time. Just the way it is.
If Tyson was in his prime right now and fought across the street from say, Floyd or Pac...who draws more of the crowd?
My bet is Tyson.
If we are in a fight, who are you taking with you: Tyson, Pac or Floyd?
I'm taking Tyson.
But yeah, if we stick with the P4P stuff...I could go with Roy as well. He was fresh. Crazy talented at his best.
But I would still say there is a bit of luxury the little guys get which is that they tend to fight people their size...within 5-7 pounds.
Of course Roy was more of a SMW by his peak but continued on and he fought at 175.Comment

He should have retired after Ruiz. I thought he was going to do it too but Milk-dud wouldn't leave him alone. So Roy's ego stepped forward and he took the challenge but the challenge ended up being if he could actually lose the weight and still be healthy...it proved to be a major failure.
I've never seen a fighter like a Prime Roy Jones Jr. before and wonder if I ever will in my life-time.Comment

No, they really don't matter because the rules keep changing. They obviously changed them from the original rules that the ancient boxers used so let's keep changing them I guess. We now have more divisions, more belts...why stop?

We arent talking about who wins, Tyson vs Jones.
We aren't talking about how many divisions each guy won, and how many are now in boxing.
We are talking about who was the most dominant in their prime. Period.Comment

Tyson vs. Jones: Tyson wins.
OK...I'll probably have to go with Jones Jr. for the whole P4P thing.Comment

Putting a Prime Roy Jones in there is not fair for the others. No one P4P was better than Jones in his prime. He took current Champs and former Champs and made them look like nothing.Comment

And in my opinion Tyson was more dominant that RJJ, the fact his prime was much shorter that RJJ's is irrelevant, when he was in his prime (however short that was) Tyson was a wreaking ball that no one could live with.Comment
