Of these three fighters, who was the most dominant in their primes?
I know they did in the different ways (staying at the weight, moving up in weight, knocking out bigger guys, etc). However, I think we can still compare/contrast.
Also, Pac's career isn't over yet but consider if he were to retire right now.
Please vote on the poll. thanks.Comment

In 1998 Roy Jones was the NUMBER ONE LHW and stayed there... and in 2003, Tarver was... who Roy Jones then moved down in weight and Beat.
That is The Ring Rankings.
Not to mention Gonzalez beating Darius, and then Gonzalez not winning one single round against Roy.
Not to mention Darius fighting ****** Hill and getting a UD, very next fight Virgil fights Roy and gets knocked out in 4 rounds.Comment

In the end, Tyson was better than Roy and better than Pac. Heavyweight Champions are really the only ones that matter because they are Kings of Boxing.
You want proof: Who wins Prime vs. Prime: Tyson vs. Roy....Tyson vs. Pac?
Result: Tyson. Tyson was also a HW in a Super-Heavyweight era.
P4P =

Who wins: Tyson from Berbick to Spinks vs. any version after?
Ok...maybe he was still technically "prime" but I would use Prime as different from peak.
Anyway...for the other. Yes, HWs are the only ones that really matter overall. How many other sports use "P4P" and seperate their athletes.
Imagine hockey players that are small saying to the big fellow that is about to break his face: "Hey...your not in my division...no fight"
Yeah...that **** doesn't work.
Or WR in the NFL making rules so DE, LB, and FS not being able to drill them. P4P, WR shouldn't be getting hit by such big guys. It's unfair.
Now, in Ancient Greece there was only one Division. Doesn't matter how much you weight...you fight everybody. Why? Because it was about war and in war nobody gives a **** about your size...you fight. Who is the best? the Man left standing.
That's reality.
Serena Williams is a great player, an ATG, but she is in Women's tennis. If there was no seperation, she would not be an ATG. She wouldn't even be top 100 in Men's tennis according to many of the Men who have been asked about this.
So who is the best? It's not her or any other women.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 11-19-2009, 04:23 PM.Comment

i guess jones was past prime after leaving his father, cuz we sure know merk was'nt pushing him as hard and whipping him with a bar or making him bob and weave under planks of wood with exposed nails....
and if heavyweights are all that matter why is ray robinson the goat?Comment

Well Tyson's prime ended with Spinks. Why? Because he was no longer the same fighter. Why? Because he no longer trained the way he was supposed to train...he left Rooney and left his ability behind. Like Floyd Patterson said: "Remember what got you there." Tyson left that.
Who wins: Tyson from Berbick to Spinks or any version after?

Your response also has NOTHING to do with the thread title.
Who was the most dominant in THEIR prime? The fact that Roy DOMINATED in his prime for 10 years and Tyson for, FOUR?
Matters.Comment

I always thought Jones started to slide a bit in his 30's at LH...even though he was still tearing it up. But since he wasn't losing people didn't really take notice.Comment
