Margarito vs Cotto should be next.

An element that needs to change is his training. Look at guys like Pacquaio, Hopkins, Calzaghe, and Marquez train and crank it up as the sessions go on. Cotto trains at his slow measured pace throughout the duration of his training camp. That will not let you take it into second gear come fight time.

Which totally explains why he gases in the later rounds. My boxing routine is harder than what I've seen from the 24/7 clips of him training.

And I'm not a pro.

I would think the winner of Shane Berto would look for bigger fights. Probably for the Mayweather vs pacquiao winner or loser.

true, but i was just saying cotto has other options, for lucrative fights besides margarito.

i'm sure he could get hatton at another catchweight if he wanted.

before the pacman fight, which i thought cotto would lose, i said cotto should fight margarito next, if he lost to manny. but seeing as how he was beaten the way he was, i don't think cotto, or any of his supporters, want him anywhere near margarito right now. he'd get annihalated.

for the record, i do believe margarito used plaster in the first fight, but w/ or w/o plaster, i doubt cotto would be able to keep margarito off his ass, and the last thing he wants to face right now, is another fighter that can take what he dishes out, and keep coming at him for 12 rounds.

fight margarito, if he wants to retire after. but if cotto wants to resume his career, and hopes to make it amongst the top level fighters again, i'd stay far, far away from margarito right now. maybe in a year or so, they can make it happen.

when the **** first went down, i was among the ppl who said, margarito "probably" used plaster for cotto, but since there was no proof.......

i now firmly believe he did, proof or not.

the biggest problem with the use of the plaster in that fight, is not necessarily what happened that night, but the lingering effects it will have on cotto. he's still good, but dude is nowhere near the same animal he was before that fight, and i honestly don't think he'll ever be again.

pre-margarito, i felt there wasn't a better WW in the world than cotto (besides floyd).

now, i think ANY of the top WW's would stand a good chance of beating dude.

he's a bigger draw, but i don't think hatton has as much "star power" as he did prior to his ass whoopings, not to mention cotto pretty much has NO chance of making 140.

i think they could do the fight at maybe 143....

sad thing is, before, i would've said hatton stood NO chance, even at 143, against cotto. now, even tho i still think cotto takes the fight, possibly by KO, i wouldn't be confident enough to bet on it (real $$$).

Cotto could beat him if he didn't fight like an idiot.

I don't think Margarito is that hard to beat if you're willing to fight a smart fight. The problem is Cotto's a stubborn moron.

Anytime Tony gets close, clinch, turn him, rinse and repeat. All you really have to do is smother him.

It's just that Cotto doesn't fight like that, and if you don't fight like that Tony will eat you alive.

If Cotto gets a trainer and sticks to a good gameplan, he could definitely beat Margarito.

I agree with Savor 100% on this. He need to take a long rest, recuperate from all these back to back wars, fire EVERYBODY, including all family members from his team, hire a real trainer and stop being so dam stubborn and start from scratch, and listen to his trainer and corner.

He needs to re-invent himself. Some re-constructive surgery would be good, his nose is really easily breakable i hear, and he needs to strenghten up that scar area from the Clottey headbutt. Then a few tune up fights to re-establish and polish up his newly developed skills and then he can start reclaiming his place.

Bully, you just see Cotto is in a really vulnerable state right now and want to throw him to the wolves to get rid of him. Have you no shame? And i hope he doesn't give mortorito a chance to make one single penny off of him. If he does, he will beat his ass but good, if he does as Savor and I mentioned. Even worse that old Mosely did. Cotto is still young with a great record. He's comin' back, and it ain't gonna be a pretty sight. Well, for Cotto fans it will!

Didn't think you would. But i respect your opinion...i just think Cotto needs to become a new person. His pride really hindered his performance in all his tough fights. He needs to get humble and accept help and advice from a really good trainer and team. And he DOES need time off...too many back to back wars.

He ain't ready for another one so soon. Especially with margo.
