How many lineals does gayweather have?
I think he may have four: 130, 135, 147, 154. At 140, Hatton refused to fight him so not his fault. The Lineal Title is actually what Floyd looks for.

Either way, the talk with Floyd is avoiding the best in the division when he moved up to 147. Instead of fighting the lineal belt holder in Baldomir, people wanted him to fight others.

i see you're point TS and its a very good one
mayweather and pacquioa are both incredibly talented fighters but what people seem too forget that boxing is a business and one defeat can seriously damage your career, hence the the good management and choosing the right fights at the right time
thats why these 2 need too fight,50/50 split
      no excuses type of fight

its really funny what peeps are implying....

pac fought all most of the names going up and fighting them at their weight, and close to or closer to their peaks than being shot, if they were shot PAC made them shot....

PAC-MAB1, Marco at P4P number 3 and after PAC even beat Erik @ a higher weight 130

          PAC-JMM2, JMM at his best

PAC-EM 1&2, boxed & beat the heck out of PAC the first time only nine months later made the rematch

Morales was past his prime, although not shot, when he beat Pac the first time...and didn't look so good trying to continually make that weight which is why he probably moved up to feel healtheir. Remember, he lost to Zahir before Pac beat him...in a fight where Zahir made Morales look old. He was aging fast. And then had to come back down in weight.

            MAB: good win.

            JMM: close disputed wins.

I still can't see any of those names beating Floyd either.

Yeah, I'm the same guy that ripped on Floyd's career after 140

So are you sure Floyd doesn't have 4 lieal titles and nobody else in history has it?
              Not sure so sure myself.

I've always wondered if Roach would be as confident if this was Floyd fighting at 140. But my opinion would only hold true if Floyd can't fight up to what he used to fight below 147 (with the exception of the Mitchell fight)...not sure. But maybe this is what Freddie sees. Like a Hyena that spots the King Lion turn old over-night limping along and malnurished because he isn't the same hunter anymore.

Not saying they both don't take chances/risks, but they do have a tendency to get the right opponents, advantages, and at the right-time. Not all opponents, but many.

Roach looks for "names," where the fighter is at in his career, and also likes to make sure of a certain weight to fight at. The one key opponent that was a very good fighter that there wasn't these advantages was JMM. Tough fight. Prime vs. Prime...healthy.

Floyd also looks for names...money more so than where the fighter is at in his career although he is guilty as charged regardless...and for at least one fight, JMM...wanted the fighter to be at a certain weight (although increasing weight where you have the option to show up at whatever weight you please is healthier/safer than losing weight).
The best name on his resume without advantages was Chico...although Castillo would be the one fight I would say was the other where Floyd didn't have the advantages and he was given hell. Prime vs. Prime fighters.

Start time about Floyd is at 5:30...but he talks about Cotto not being the same fighter before that.

"I don't see the Greatness" {147}~ Freddie Roach

I'm just throwing this out there...
you are very smart, I'm sure you knew at the time that the #2-3 best fighter in the world, barrera was just a name, and strategically an easy fight for pac. so i totally understand why you wouldn't include him in manny's best wins. especially being an arguably prime hof fighter. (plus pac was no where near the well rounded fighter he is today).

Read the first post. It's when Roach goes after opponents. Forget the "name" but when he goes after him. Listen to Roach's interviews on each of his opponents he picks: He tells you loud and clear: this guy doesn't have it anymore...my guy will expose it.

I don't like Floyd hyping up Oscar as a big win even if it was at a bigger weight either because Oscar was still past his prime...not the same fighter Mosley fought and beat at 147.

I was using quick examples to speed up the post: I've called the win over MAB a good win many times before.
