The Quality of the First 4 Rounds are Being Underrated

The first 4-5 rounds of this fight were phenomenal.

I mean, as good as we thought this fight could have been, the first half lived up to that and then some. Cotto just couldn't sustain that pace.

But how about we appreciate just how good the first half of the fight was?

People were predicting a high speed chess match....that's EXACTLY what the first half was.

It was, but Cotto was ruined mentally by Margarito he lost his come forward through everything approach. He had that fight up till the 2nd knockdown he only lost the 2nd round in my opinion except for the knockdowns. But Marg, as a lot of people said, took something from Cotto and after the way he looked against Manny I'm not sure if he'll ever get it back. There has to be a Marg/Cotto rematch and Cotto's going to have get what he lost back in that fight, if that's even possible.

I watched the replay 3 times already and I stopped on Round 5 then back to 1 again. It was a classic fight seeing Manny's power, chin and speed. It was also great to see Miguel's jab left hook and combos that he unloaded when Pac does the shell mode.

But then if I think about it, if Cotto fought the same way he did in the first 5 rounds he could have been KO'd ala Hatton in the 10th. No doubt.

First round was a Cotto round, manny didn't really do muchoutside of see what Cotto had to offer. Round two was a big Pacquiao round, where he let his hands go. Round three was close and on even terms until manny figured cotto out and dropped him with a right hook. Round four was a round Cotto was doing well in until he got hammered and saved by the bell. Everything after that was a Pacquiao land slide.

All I'm saying is the action and skill of the first 4-5 rounds was amazing. The give and take, the ebb and flow, it was freakin' amazing.

Cotto did alot better then expected; some people are overlooking that. This wasn't exactly B-Hop vs. Pavlik, far from that really. Cotto was able to outbox Pacquiao for most of the rounds, only to have Pacquiao steal them in the last seconds. Cotto ate some really hard body shots early on also.
