Why did it seem like by round 4, Cotto had absolutely nothing?

...he tried, but it was bad timing, even though cotto held a title. that was a time at 140 where nobody fought anybody.

cotto will prove his detractors are wrong when he fights again..

you should also consider the team behind cotto, they're are the ones responsible for cottos performance inside the ring..

          cut the "past-prime" arguement/excuse..
          its a weak one..

I had Cotto winning by KO in the 12th, in fact, the fight played out the exact opposite as I thought it would. I had Manny winning the early part of the fight and then Cotto taking over, roles became completely reversed. I agree it was the second knockdown that changed the fight. Cotto's jab was eating Manny alive and there was no in/out action like in Manny's previous fights. But once Cotto tried to slug it out with Manny and got hit with that uppercut, it was Margarito in that ring all over again. Also, Cotto did need Evangelista in that corner, I didn't hear much had 10 people over, but from what I heard and could tell, Roach was exactly right. Cotto runs his own show and that isn't going to cut it against top tier opponents.

Not taking anything away from Manny though, he worked on a lot of stuff to prepare for this fight. His chin held up a lot better than I thought it would, though, if Cotto kept going I think Manny would have broken down as well. Each time Cotto landed a flush shot Manny would hit himself with the glove and he did it about 5 times or so. But the thing that totally surprised me was how good Manny's defense was on the ropes, he had the same exact shell as Clottey and Cotto could have thrown more like he did against Clottey in the 6th but I'm sure he wanted to conserve energy. Still... Margarito official ruined Cotto, he's just not the same guy anymore. Where he used to be hurt and still come forward Marg took that away from him. I figured it was the cut in the Clottey fight because thats a very tough thing to fight with, but in this fight after the knockdown Cotto was just in full survival mode and had he done something to follow up with that jab he could have won the fight. If anything I hate Marg more now, ruined the career of potentially a great, great fighter. Props to Manny though, MAD PROPS, guy has convinced me that he has become a fantastic all around fighter.

The punch that drop Cotto change the fight and he stop going to his gameplan after that. He was winning round 3 and 4 until the KD happen also.

How many fighters have been hurt by Plaster? If you ever were in a accident you should know. Cotto was in one than he had the brick incident against Margo. Than tried to recover by fighting jennings, but he didn't recover from the Clottey fight. pacquiao has'nt been hurt untill the first four or five rounds of the cotto fight. Cotto also rocked him around the 8th round, but didn't have much to follow. The day Manny gets a beating like the ones Cottos has got lets see how many top fighters will manny beat next. I'll bet he'll retire. De La Hoya and Hatton were easy fights and he didn't get hurt so he came in strong.

I mean, he was landing some nice looping shots and body shots, but he had no sting to them at all. Only in the first round was he throwing with authority, i was almost puzzled as to how this happened to him so quickly. I know pac took his best shots, which was outstanding, but im talking strictly from Miguels perspective. What happened to him after the 2nd round? I swear he looked shot after that knockdown. Pacmans power either really did a number on him or he lost it mentally (cuz of pac). i dont know, i was just suprised to see that.
WHAT HAPPENED??? I'LL TELL YOU COTTO STANS!!! COTTO CAN'T HANG WITH AN ATG FIGHTER LIKE PAC!!!!
