Why did it seem like by round 4, Cotto had absolutely nothing?

Marco Antonio Barerra said that the body shot DID it to him ...Personally I thought it was after round 5, near the end of round 5 Pacquiao landed a huge body shot that had Cotto dropping his hands and moving backwards, after that Cotto just started to retreat and looked like he was running on empty. He was having a pretty good round 5 up to that point too. And I think it was the 6th round when I first noticed Cotto start to breathe through his mouth.
when he got hit, all the air was taken out of him ...Comment

You could see that Cotto's physical strength went out for a while after the 2nd round, he regained it for a while then lost it again in the middle rounds. Manny noticed this change too which is when he got real aggressive. Leads me to believe mainly Manny's punches took it out of him but the catch weight didnt help. He looked too thin at the weigh in and did not look like he filled out much when they showed him warming up before the fight. He needs to take a hard look at his career and if he wants o continue he probably needs to change his training and his team, which don't mean going back to his uncle. The strategy should have been to control the fight with the jab get thought the first 3 rounds or so and than ratchet up the pressure but a great performance from Manny and no specific directions from the corner hurt Miguel bad.I'm not sure if it would've worked out better for Cotto because he might have worn himself down by moving around like that all fight, he does have stamina issues after all. He might have frustrated Pacquiao a little but I doubt it would've made a big difference. Plus Cotto has to transition from offense to defense, he can't do both at once, could've made him easier to time.
Yeah, I think the strength comes from Pacquiao's legs, the guy's legs are huge. His upper body might not be as strong as his opponents' but his legs make up for that. People look at his upper body and think he isn't strong, they get lulled into a false sense of security but when they get in the clinches they find out that the guy is strong. Hatton couldn't really push him around and Cotto couldn't really do it either.Comment

This statement speaks volumes!..........
I have been saying it for years now (ok, maybe since 2007, leading up to, and after the Margo fight), Cotto is not the fighter his fans/ricans make him out to be.
He is a good fighter, but not the beast they want him to be. He has never been dominate over another good fighter.
Cotto might be close to done as a fighter at the top. The fight last night was an absolute beating....I was not at all surprised.Comment

Seriously. The pop on his punches were gone, after the knockdown in round 2 he just seemed like he had nothing. I mean, he was landing some nice looping shots and body shots, but he had no sting to them at all. Only in the first round was he throwing with authority, i was almost puzzled as to how this happened to him so quickly. I know pac took his best shots, which was outstanding, but im talking strictly from Miguels perspective. What happened to him after the 2nd round? I swear he looked shot after that knockdown. Pacmans power either really did a number on him or he lost it mentally (cuz of pac). i dont know, i was just suprised to see that.
Cotto is past it.Why can`t ya`ll realize this?Comment
