  • Why wasn't Cotto throwing to the body in the first 3 rounds when he had Many on the ropes? He was just standing there with his peek-a-boo defense and not throwing any punches. Must've been that he was trying to save his energy, for what I don't know.

And does anyone know what were both fighters fight night weight?

    • First of all, hats off to Pacman. He just proved again to be the P4P no. 1 and the fighter of his generation. A fighter who will be talked about 50 and 100 years from now, if anyone talks boxing then.

Just one thing I don't understand. Mark Vester talks about seven titles in seven weight classes. Most of the media talk about seven weight classes.

Well, flyweight, super bantamweight, super featherweight, lightweight and welterweight. I can only make that five. Or six if you want to count the IBO title at lightwelterweight.

      What have I missed here?

Featherweight dude, remember Pac TKO Barrera? Barrera holds the WBC belt and he relinquished it, but he was the lineal champion of FW then. JR WW is also included he beat the lineal champ Hatton (w/ IBO belt) who happens to hold the WBC but relinquished it also just as Barrera did.

I think nobody knows from this forum, I guess you have to ask Cotto himself about that. Peace bro!

            • Props to Manny. As a Cotto fan, this was wildly disappointing. He didn't seem to use an intelligent gameplan. He should've bullied Manny around the ring like he used to do to all of his other smaller opponents, but elected to back up. His trainer should've looked at Mosley's win over Margarito. Even though Manny is a different kind of fighter than Margs, that strategy would have been more effective. I'd like to see him fight someone he can beat then retire. He definitely needs a new corner though. Once again, cong**** Pac Man. I wonder who he fights next.

              • Cong**** to PAC for the historic feat. Mega props to Cotto for his class shown during post-interviews in defeat. Bigger fan of both fighters now!

Cotto's corner including his Dad gave him one more round after the 10th and when the round finished, Cotto practically begged them NOT TO STOP THE FIGHT and finally convinced. he even thanked them for that on the post fight interview on the ring.

                  WHY???!!!!
Cotto, the former 105 lber, is a warrior he tried to do his best against a guy that was simply better and that was pounding and dominating him, but even going backwards Cotto never stop trying.

BTW you were proven wrong and I was proven right, A Good Small Fighter can Beat A Good Bigger Fighter.

Cotto started well, and just disappeared come round 6 or 7. Switched to dancing, despite getting some good exchanges after the knockdowns.

Cotto seems to want to box more and stalk less. I'm surprised, because the Joe Frazier style is what propelled him to the top. Maybe he thought he had a strategy for Pac.

Well, Cotto's still the best WW in the world, but Pac is the best fighter in the world, period.

His resume is already 10x that of Floyd Mayweather, and "No More Money" should be forced to fight Cotto or Mosley before he even gets to kiss Pac's feet.
Pacquiao is not bigger than Cotto. At the weigh-in Pac had shoes on and Cotto was bare foot. They create the illusion that they are the same size but Pacqiaou is definetly the smaller man.

Pac always looks bigger when hes fighting than he does outside of the ring.

I thought Cotto looked surprisingly small. Didnt look like the bigger man at all during the fight.

I still cant get over how strong Manny is.
