Plese tell me who's that fighter that you favor that has beaten an elite?
Mayweather ? Hopkins? Mosley? Cotto has fought the most dangerous fighters.
Fighters that others avoided just to stay in that number 1 or 2 spot. fighting the most dangerous fighters is means more than fighting Juan Manuel Maruez who was ranked around #3 and fighting him out off his best weight division.

I'm not saying that Mayweather should be ranked as high as he is. I'm just saying that there are some things you can find wrong with Cotto's resume. Like for example, I view victories over Collazo and Mayorga ten times better than wins over Alfonzo Gomez and Michael Jennings. And Mosley's win over Margarito kind of erases the tarnish of his resume by losing to Cotto in a close fight. And the fact that Cotto has a loss to Margarito and didn't really beat Clottey and Mosley that decisively makes it awfully hard for me to make him P4P #1.

Here's the top p4p fighters in order as of NOV 2009

          1. Manny Pacquiao (140)
          2. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (147)
          3. Joe Calzaghe (175)
          4. Shane Mosley (147)
          5. Paul Williams (154)
          6. Juan Manuel Marquez (135)
          7. Bernard Hopkins (175)
          8. Israel Vazquez (122)
          9. Miguel Cotto (147)
          10. Rafael Marquez (126)
          11. Arthur Abraham (168)
          12. Chad Dawson (175)
          13. Ivan Calderon (108)
          14. Juan Manuel Lopez (122)
          15. Nonito Donaire (115)

obviously it's wrong considering they have mosley who lost to Cotto ahead of him and many other sites have it the same way. If Cotto beats the packman and he will, he's p4p #1 IMO, May*** can fight Cotto if he has any issues about it. That's the ONLY way to settle boxing issues..."IN THE RING."...

If Vitali beats Pacman, is he P4P #1? Since he beat the P4P king?
Well, if hatton has his wish that's the way it will be. Then hatton will get smeared by Cotto.

There are holes in many top fighter resumes. But Cotto is constantly fighting fair, dangerous and fighters from his own weight classes. He's been ruling the division for a long time now, but he doesn't get the credit he deserves because of show fighters that put on a show, but don't beat the best. Cotto and Manny are the very best fighters now.
