no drug gives a man that kind of unorthodox skill.

its the wins and the manner in which a prime roy jones won them that makes him great.

He was coming of one of the best wins of his career two fights before, he wasn't prime but damn near close to it. It wouldn't of made a difference anyway wether he was prime or not, if you give a counter puncher a rematch you are asking for trouble.

lol at the idiots who think moving from 175 to 193, and then back to 175 didn't affect Roy's body and chin. Just look at him during Tarver I. He looked worse than Mosley did against Mayorga...It had nothing to do with how good Tarver was. The weight severely effected his reflexes and his legs. It didn't take much to take him out under those circumstances. And on top of that, age made him look even worse than that as the years went on.

I wish the top fighters at 168 like Eubanks and Calzaghe had came to America back when he was dominating. I'm positive he would have dominated them.

Jones had the most athletic ability of any fighter ever, but not the most skill. It's not that amazing - having fundamentals to fall back on and adjust when your legs go (Ali, Hopkins) is more praiseworthy.

When he weighed in for this fight with Ruiz he was wearing a jumper, trainers and tracksuit bottoms. He must of been 190 max, come fight night against Tarver he was back up to 185 lbs. Thats 5 lbs in 3 months or so. As I said before about Toney its the fighters responsibility to get into shape, you can only fight whose in the ring with you. Toney has been complaining for years that he was drained against Jones, but its a moot point even if he was drained or not.

He should of either learnt his fundamentals or retired.

He weighed in at 193 for Ruiz, and hydrated to around 200. For the Tarver fight he weighed in at like 174 or 175. So he must have been cutting like 25lbs for the fight. The fact that he hydrated back to 185 only supports that theory (when you hydrate to a very high weight, it means your body cannot handle it as well. Just look at Kelly Pavlik for example).

Remember, your walking around/rehydrated weight and your weigh in weight are two different things. Just because he rehydrated to 185 doesn't mean he didn't have to cut 25+lbs to make weight again. If it were that easy then anybody would be able to fight two weight classes lower than they usually do. There's no way losing that much weight in a few months didn't mess up his body. Its impossible. Just look at the the points where he actually dominated Tarver:

CLEARLY not the same RJJ. He looks horrible. His reflexes were gone, and his legs were shaky. He was forced to fight a game he wasn't used to because of this (attacking Tarver). Yes it worked in that one fight, but it was only a matter of time before somebody caught him. Sadly it happened in the next fight.

I'm not saying its Tarver's fault it happened. I don't blame him at all. But that doesn't change the fact that it clearly wasn't the same RJJ.
