The only way to truly know if Floyd connects with the fans and has Real fans is through defeat. Pacman has something Floyd doesn't, the majority of people who buy floyds fights just want to witness the moment live that he takes an L. Its why the loudest cheer Floyd ever had was when Mosley rocked him. Pacman has several losses and been knocked out but his fans are not just fiipinos majority of the ones buying his ppv are white, mexicans, and blacks, remember Floyd said it he said how do a guy from the philippines come to America and get more love than me? If your 1st sentence is correct, the fact Manny sold so little after he lost would suggest his fanbase left once he lost.

You have no idea why people buy floyd's fights. Its surely because they like floyd-that is why anybody on TV does well. Rather than accept that he has fans, you have to find some nonsense reason to explain his numbers being larger.

The bulk of purchases or viewers of any American TV event will more than likely be white given the demopgraphics of the US. Both fighters have fans across ethnic lines. I don't recall floyd saying excatly that-you are paraphrasing.

I have no problem with anyone liking Manny. My point was, and remains, that by any legitimate measure you use, floydhas shown more of an ability to connect to casual fans and bring them to the sport than Manny has.

I don't see why that would be an issue. Posting it in no way disparages, belittles, or disrespects manny.

You have no idea why people like floyd. What you know is floyd is popular, you don't like that, and you have to find a way to explain it without acknowledging something positive. My guess is you have seen the espn poll where fans have floyd as a top 5 ATG. You see the p4p lists that unainmously hav floyd at the top.

Come on guys, let it go. WHether you agree with how he did it or not, floyd has shown the ability to connect with the casual fan more than any other current fighter. He has also been the standard since Roy Jones got beat.

Some people say boxing is a "dying" sport, but like Jim Lampley says it's just been declining in the US. It seems to me that just about every casual sports fan on the planet knows who Manny Pacquiao is!

I remember when some people called De La Hoya vs. Mayweather "the fight to save boxing", but I felt that was ridiculous, since I could hardly stay awake watching it...

But everybody who saw Manny Pacquiao fight Oscar was impressed! It left an impression in their minds, something like "this is someone I want to watch again". And Manny's brutal KO of the four-year Ring champion at light welterweight, Ricky Hatton, must have left people with a similar feeling about Pacquiao as they had about Mike Tyson in the late 80s. People who are not serious boxing fans, in the same sense as we on boxingscene are, they ARE EXCITED about this guy and want to know when Manny's next fight is!

Well based on what I know about many Floyd fans, they keep chanting He still got his OH, he undefeated he da best! he has no loses, so that means to me once Floyd loses they will hop off that wagon since that is their main reason for liking him don't you think?
