People need to consider the context of words. I throw the word bum around all the time when I talk about fighters I hate. Usually I'll qualify it if I need to.

The word bum, by me and others, is used relatively.

Relative to others at 140, Gatti IS a bum. A mediocre fighter, compared to good fighters, is a bum. A guy with a padded record is a bum.

Many words have many different meanings. The word love for example. I love Dr. Pepper...but I'm not going to marry him. I love girls' asses, but not the same way that I love animals. I love kids, but not the same way I would love a girlfriend. Etc. (yep, I'm opening myself up for plenty of jokes here, pick away)

I'm not about to change my calling Gatti a bum. Sorry, but a guy that twice lost to Ivan Robinson, lost to Manfredy, lost to King Solomon (who?), lost to Mickey Ward (a true bum), and struggled with Rodriguez does not deserve to be called a really good fighter. That isn't even a B level fighter. That's a C level fighter.

And if you have to sit there and argue about the use of the word bum, you obviously don't get it or just like to argue about ****** ****. Maybe these guys shouldn't get into boxing if they're not willing to take criticism. Cause know what? It doesn't matter how good you are, there will be people to criticise the hell out of you. You can't name one boxer that someone can't argue was overrated.

Marciano- overrated because he was strategically manuvered through his career. Only defended his title a couple choice times after winning it. Blah blah blah

Ali- overrated cause he struggled with Leon Spinks, a guy that was only 7-0 at the time.

Tyson- lost to Douglas, lost to Holyfield, Lewis, Danny Williams

etc etc...anybody can argue anybody was overrated

It doesn't matter, it's still rude to use it. In any case, it is only your OPINION that Gatti isn't good at 140. Then again, he is ranked top 10 at 140 by Ring and the major belts, so how in the hell can he be a bum?

Simple answer...he is not. You don't have to disrepect a fighter to show how good another fighter is. If you have to stoop to that to prove your point, that's pretty pathetic.

The only thing that is obvious is people who throw that term around probably would not have the balls themselves to step into the ring, don't have very developed English skills, and have to revert to name-calling to make their point. Boxers take criticism all the time...maybe the fans should take some, or can YOU handle that? It appears not.

Ali- overrated cause he struggled with Leon Spinks, a guy that was only 7-0 at the time.
Anyone who makes that argument is a complete moron. Sure anyone can say anyone is overrated, but that doesn't make it true. I can say George Bush is an extraterrestrial, so what? Ali was 36 when he struggled with Spinks and had been fighting for 18 years.

You're just wrong. Gatti IS a bum. That isn't my opinion, it's fact. Prove to me otherwise. So the Ring says he's in the top 10 at 140? So what? That doesn't make him not a bum. And the Ring isn't the authority on everything in boxing. How about thinking for yourself rather than letting The Ring tell you how to think? The Ring also said Kostya Tszyu was still number 1 at 140 when he had been inactive for 2 years. So **** off, *****.

Wow...need a Zanex? The Ring is much more an authority than you. I do think for myself, and box by the way, thanks for your concern.

Zoo came back and proved why he should have been kept number one by *****-slapping the guy everyone thought was number 1 in Zoo's absence.

Gatti lost 2 very close decisions with Robinson, one of which he might have won if he had not been deducted for a low blow. Also, Gatti lost on a cut to Manfredy who at the time was considered one of the best fighters in that weight-class. Gatti was on the winning end of multiple fights of the year. This doesn't make him great, because he is not great...he's simply NOT a bum, though, and that's my only point.

Or wait, where does the Ring rank you if you're not a bum, seeing how they're the authority. Oh you're not ranked by the Ring? They've never heard of you? Odd. That couldn't possibly make you a bum.

And you proved my point with your argument fool.

Anyone who makes that argument is a complete moron. Sure anyone can say anyone is overrated, but that doesn't make it true. I can say George Bush is an extraterrestrial, so what? Ali was 36 when he struggled with Spinks and had been fighting for 18 years.
Yeah no ****. At the same time, you can say Gatti isn't a bum, but it doesn't make that true. You've yet to prove me wrong, because you can't. Very close decisions? Umm...if that's what you call very close...okay. So what? It was ****ing Ivan Robinson. And he was down against Manfredy anyhow, hello?

And there's no way you can say Gatti is even as good as Mayweather, let alone better. So, as I have ****ing said, Gatti is a bum relative to Mayweather. You dumb ****.

Go jack off to your English skills MLA style book, fool.

Its weak to attack someone's english skills displayed on a message board as well. What? I'm supposed to edit everything, have it proofread and have grammar checks? Okay, I'll PM you every post I make prior to posting it, *****. It's a message board, get over it.

You're the Bum...You are SO ****in' ******...yes, Tyson and Marciano may be overrated by the public..but underrated inside the boxing world, Ali did lose to a Leon Spinks, but exactly how old was Ali? VERY OLD! That Ali that fought Liston, Frazier, and Foreman would destroy Leon Spinks. Yes Gatti does have 6 losses, but that was in the past, ever since signing with buddy mcgirt, he has changed everythinng and become a way better fighter, the gatti today would beat all the people that beat him except De La Hoya who gave him a beating..and Gatti went through some big wars so i dunno how he's overrated

You're the closest thing to a bum this forum has to offer. Even Imnorw, who is a bigot with poor typing skills, has the decency to argue upfront with people he disagrees with on the forum. You, on the other hand, send negative karma and private derogatory comments like a little *****.

Also, for future reference, the Scott Baio stuff isn't entertaining or funny in the least.

dumb ****s, I didn't say I agreed with any of my arguments against guys being great. Tyson and Ali are two of my favorite fighters of all time. I don't like Marciano but can't deny that he wasn't a good fighter.

My point is that there isn't a fighter alive that someone can't argue against. I was repeating arguments i've seen on THESE VERY FORUMS from other users before.

Re-read what I wrote, more carefully this time you ****ing hick.
