Pacquiao Admits Catch-Weight Is Crucial To Outcome With Cotto

If Cotto comes in weight drained, he has only himself and his staff to blame. No excuses. They agreed to 145 - and let's not act as if they were forced to do it, they were the ones who suggested 145. Plus, I saw Cotto right after the Clottey weigh-in, he looked like he could knock off a pound and not be anywhere near drained. Clottey was the one dehydrated. If it's an issue, they obviously did something wrong in camp. That said, I see nothing that suggests he's drained. Nothing.

And who's really at a disadvantage here... Cotto who has to drop an extra 1 pound, or Manny who has to eat to stay near the weight and came up from lower divisions? He only fought at 140+ twice, one fight in which he weighed in at 142, and the other at 138.
I'd say the latter.

I think the Dela hoya issue should be put to rest.
Dela hoya at 154 came down to 147 to fight PAC at 147 a weight he never fought before. he last and only fight @ 135 fought most of his career @ 125 & 130.
We don't expect him to come all the way up to 154,don't we?
People already considered it a circus and nobody gave PAC a chance even knowing it be at 147.after he wins people make weight issue an alilbi.
Fact is Dela Hoya made all the terms in their fight,he decide it to be @147,he thought he can beat PAC regardless of the weigh,or hes trying to make the fight look fair,he probably though no one would give him credit if he beat PAC w/ a big weight advantage so came in lighter than he should have and paid dearly for it.

Oscar's fight before Pacquiao (Stevie Forbes) was at a catchweight of 150, so it's not like he even had to drop from 154. He only had to lose 3 pounds, not 7, and he had seven months in which to do it. Let's remember, too -- Oscar asked for it to be at 147. He was the one calling the shots.

DLH fight wasn't considered a catch weight, it was a Welterweight fight and Oscar had the right to come in at anything up to the limit of 147.
