This reminds me of when Margarito turned his nose up at a Mosley fight, and everybody bashed him for it.
Damn... I actually remember that uproar from late last year, even though I hadn't signed up yet. I was lurking for about 4 months in '08 before I joined in with the fun here, but I clearly remember all the hype about Margs "ducking" Mosley until they finally settled on the fight. Thank goodness it happened!

pavlik is just weak as hell but marketable. I agree with whoever said this is a marketing ploy to make more money. They are going to take the controvery very public before dec. 5 and Paul will be at pavlik's fight talkin big boy ****... Arum might even by pw a ringside seat just to fan the fire. pavlik is one of the few decent white fighters in america and they are going to milk him for every cent he is worth, it doesn't make sense to have kelly's career further tainted by a bad loss in a fight the makes no money. That being said this is still top 3 biggest ***** moves of the year.
Well, the fight itself had to happen. It was essential for the WW division. That's why I said what I did. And believe me, I was a firm fan after the Cotto fight. But...
a) His performance against Shugs was pitiful, and I refuse to believe any of the weak excuses he's put out. He lost, plain and simple. If he was weight drained, he should've been fighting at 154. If he wasn't focused, then he shouldn't have been fighting at all. His greasy ass would get waxed again if they rematched, at whatever weight, and I had a strong feeling anyway that Shugs would win that fight (albeit by decision, not stoppage).
b) Obviously the cheating thing prior to that fight (not Cotto or prior) disappointed me even more than I already was, so that goes without saying. The stories have been done to death, and I don't believe he nor Capetillo were ignorant of what was going on, but I'm willing to let it slide because...
I still miss him as a fighter and want to see him back doing his thing. I don't know if I'll ever find it in my heart to resume my fandom, but I'm not one of those who reckons he shouldn't get another chance. Besides, Cotto needs to show that it wasn't just a bad night, or plaster.
Oh, and that uppercut is still the best in the world. It's fucking killer. I've been 'training' my best pal to try and do it like Margs on the pads, but we've got a long way to go.
When Gayweather did not defend his welterweight belt, never I heard WBC saying anything. Also I see very strange that he pulled out from Paul Williams’s fight, now he wants to fight Espino in December. How can you fight when you cannot throw punches or close your fist? This is the way some champions does, now they do not fight the best, just pick which boxer you can beat, but decline those one that will beat you.
Man look the title of this thread said enough... How do yo find a real challenge in a dude who was on the contender... only has single digit knockouts and doesnt have any real history behind him? Now if he presents a challenge Paul Williams must be a real THREAT
im a fan of kelly.. he's great fighter i like his style.but the problem is he is fighting bums after bums please fight someone who is a worthy opponent.
I can't believe Espino presents a real challenge. He just straight out ducking P-Will. but, he could of picked a better opponent than Espino somebody like the "The Destroyer" Lopez. But, Espino naw man that **** is weak.
Pavlik sure is acting everything that is the opposite of what his home town represents. Blue collar and hard working. Seems like he just wants easy money for beating up scrubs.
