If every fight was a Gatti-Ward, how would that make Boxing different from MMA?

We NEED fighters like Dawson, Mayweather, Martinez etc. Without fighters like them, our sport would be MMA without ground work. I AGREE that some fights shouldnt be advertised as dramatic barn burners and that DOES hurt the sport. But if you can actually sit there and tell me you would stand in one spot and trade punches with a seriously dangerous opponent for 12 rounds, then go nuts talkin **** about what makes our sport different.
    R u really this ******?

Robinson wasnt a runner. Nor was Ali.

If boxing fights were like Gatti-Ward... then more and more people will watch boxing and the sport will re-enter its golden age.

Nobody would pay hard-earned money to see a wussy run like a chicken all night.

Ignore the casual fans. A boring fight would be where both fighters literally did nothing at all, but obviously that never happens.

whoever complains about some boxing fights being 2 technical are not real fans...thats the beauty of the sport, the skills these guys have.

MMA is like that 2..5 rounds of nothing but wrestling or attempting a take down...only exciting thing about MMA is the knockouts.....submission are wack and winnig by decision cuz of a better ground game is super boring....

A lot of people on here call fights boring if it isn't a gatti/ward type fight.

In MMA the technical fighters are the grapplers. Trying to control their opponent and not take them out, like a boxer like Floyd or Dawson. Like you said you really got to be a fan of the sport to appreciate it.

all i'm asking for is if you can hurt your opponent, do so and finish him if you can.

It's hard for me to really tell if Johnson was a dangerous opponent to Chad Dawson Saturday night. It looked like Glen had no snap or steam on his punches and peoples' complaints about Dawson playing it too safe are legit. Tarver did not ever run against Johnson to the extent that Chad Dawson did when they fought each other twice. Does Dawson have a chin problem? Of course being a slick boxer can help nullify that disadvantage, which Dawson clearly is. He's just not gonna garner any attention with his style. Paul Williams and Timothy Bradley don't have one punch knockout power, and they don't fight scared like Dawson does. So there.

Hey if he was able to hurt Chad once, he was able to hurt him again. I'm not calling what Dawson did on Sat EXCITING, not at all. I can see how it was boring, but give the guy some breathing room.
