If every fight was a Gatti-Ward, how would that make Boxing different from MMA?

When was the last time Johnson was KO'd?

We NEED fighters like Dawson, Mayweather, Martinez etc. Without fighters like them, our sport would be MMA without ground work. I AGREE that some fights shouldnt be advertised as dramatic barn burners and that DOES hurt the sport. But if you can actually sit there and tell me you would stand in one spot and trade punches with a seriously dangerous opponent for 12 rounds, then go nuts talkin **** about what makes our sport different.
      true dat...

and i like to say a boxer puncher is someone who can box and get there man out of there.

dawson and mayweather are boxers, not punchers. dawson himself said that.

Floyd was pretty much a boxer puncher for 90% of his career. Just because he was elusive doesn't mean he wasn't pounding on his opponents.

            Who cares?

He could have been the first but we'll never know because Dawson was too scared to try.

All I now is that Dawson could hit him at will yet he chose to run. He could at least have tried and made the fight a lot more interesting by going after Johnson. If you think people criticize Dawson for being technical you're dead wrong.

when he was in LW you could say he was a boxer puncher cause he was getting his man out of there. the floyd we know now isn't. hell the floyd at 140 wansn't one either.

There should be a balance. Gatti/Ward was a war but I gotta agree with the thread starter, it was just to hard hitting men standing in front of each other and hitting each other in the face as hard as they could.

The error in this is that from a business and entertaining standpoint, fights with pure boxers should never be billed as the headlining bouts. I agree with that. But to criticize a fighter for trying to ensure a W is ridiculous.

The only problem I have is when one guy is completely outclassing his opponent, is not in any danger and just continues to pitty pat or throw 1-2's and no combinations or anything. Go for the win damnit.
