Did Calzaghe have a better resume than Dawson at 27 years of age?

At 28 fights he did, at 27 years old, no.

            LOL.

In fairness, Joe was almost always the old man when he fought the massive fights of his career.

He was in his late thirties when he annihilated the then young World Champion Jeff Lacy (who is still only 32) and he was even older when he unified his division by beating Mikkel Kessler.

Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. were just pay days in a completely different division. He just wanted to secure himself for life financially. Then again, not long after losing to Joe, racist Bernard destroyed Kelly Pavlik with a magnificent performance so obviously was not 'over the hill' when he fought Joe. He primed late in life.

I would say yes as his win over 31 year old Eubank (when Joe was 24) was better than Dawson beating 40 year old Tarver and barely beating 40 year old Johnson (who had 63!! fights).

I think beating Adamek ( who was prime) Tarver and Johnson was better than beating only Eubank, who had seen better years( although he was still decent). That was even after he lost to Collins twice.

This isn't about Calzaghe vs Dawson at age 27, it's about fighting 40 year olds.

you kidding me? old eubank who wasn't even ranked when joe fought him he was just a name. and robin reid who a lot of people thought he lost to. that were the only notable opponents he fought through 28 fights. how in the world is that better than eric harding, tomas adamek, tarver twice, johnson(debatable) all guys who were ranked in the top 10 when dawson fought them.
