    Dawson-Calzaghe double standard

Dawson fight 39 and 40 year old versions of both Tarver and Johnson, and he's fighting old man and needs to fight someone young.

Calzaghe fight a 43 year old Hopkins and 39 year old Jones, and that somehow solidified his legacy.

    LOL.

Dawson is 26 and will fight the best in the light heavyweight division very soon. Fights with Pascal and Cloud will both probably happen next year. He also wanted to fight Hopkins, but I don't think Bernard wants any part of a young lion like Chad. He is just fighting Johnson again to set the record straight, and he only fought Tarver twice because he was forced to.

Compare that to a 36 year old Calzaghe who was at the end of his career, and his most notable fight is with Mikkel Kessler. He fought 43 year old Hopkins and 39 year old shot Jones to try and solidify his legacy before retiring.

Difference is that Dawson is not using fights with Glenn Johnson and Antonio Tarver as career defining victories.

A valid point BUT Calzaghe had been looking to fight RJJ and BHOP for some time, and it wasnt until the Lacey win that they began to pay him any attention.

This is a good thread. A lot of Calzaghe fans are calling double standards now that Bernard Hopkins is fighting Roy Jones. But what they fail to realize is that a lot of people not including myself want to see it for some reason. And after Calzaghe beat Roy Jones, he displayed this attitude like he just beat a great fighter in his prime, and he said it in leaving out the prime part (Which would've been a lie anyway) in the lead up to the fight. Hopkins is going on record right now and saying that if he beats him he won't get any credit for it. Calzaghe tries to sugar coat everything, and most of the other fighters out there keep it 100.

I agree, and this is what people don't understand. His past 3 fights has been stepping stones to higher caliber opponents and bigger paydays, and I'm expecting the Pascal fight to come next( as the winners of Dawson/Johnson and Diaconu/Pascal will be mandated to fight each other).

He is only 27 years old people, give him time.

WTF, it's the other way round, Calzaghe gets nothing BUT **** for those fights. Dawson's last 4 fights has been vs 40 year olds after tonight.
