Unbiased opinion on "RA the Rugged Man vs Floyd...

I just heard the entire interview and I'm sure all the Floyd fans are trying to defend their fighter and all the Floyd haters are agreeing with everything this dude said.

I'm going to set the record straight...

I think RA was being a little over the top when he said things like "Floyd you have only fought *****'s" or "Floyd you ain't never fought nobody".

Those things are silly, Floyd has fought some great fighters in his time and beat them all. (Well I actually thought Castillo I he lost)

The thing is, RA is 100% right in that Floyd legacy will be remembered by who he fought. Boxing is like college football in that, you are ranked or rate on strength of schedule. Floyd is a great fighter, a HOF no doubt but for him to say he's the greatest of all time, that's ridiculous. He has to fight the greatest in order to be considered the greatest.

Imagine if Ray Leonard never fought Hagler or Hearns? Would we have the same level of respect for Leonard now? Hell no, not even close.

I think when Mayweather said this line, he said everything I needed to hear, "Legacy doesn't pay bills". Wow, that one broke my heart, seriously because you can tell what is important to him. Money, money, money...I mean his name IS Money Mayweather right?

Say what you want about DLH but at least DLH wasn't motivated by money his entire career. He fought the best and challenged himself. I remember an interview where DLH said, "I have all the money in the world I need, now it's about my legacy".

If that same thought was in Floyds heart, us as fans would get great fights and no matter the outcome, I would respect Floyd that much more. Then he wonders why he isn't the most loved athlete in the U.S.....

Floyd is great, just not the greatest. He failed to fight Margarito, Cotto, Mosley and P. Williams in their prime. Then again, he made it very clear that he doesn't care about legacy, all he cares about is the money. The sad thing is, a lot of his fans follow those exact thoughts.

We have an entire generation with no heart, no integrity. Sad........

lol@ Ra the rugged man...he said Mayweather only fights small fighters....but Marquez is the smallest guy he has fought...every other fighter has been bigger than him..he mentions Paul Williams..but he didnt mention that Paul Williams started @ Middleweight and dropped to 147lbs to fight smaller fighters...he doesnt mention that PWill has more fights @154lbs & 160lbs r than he does @ 147lbs...he said Mayweather was scared of P Will but DIDNT mention P Will getting his ears boxed off by Quintana by UD in their first match...now if Quintana can box circles around P-Will and get a UD is it sooooo unlikely to think arguably the best fighter of this era could do it?...I mean this is the same Quintana who just 2 fights prior got BLASTED out by Cotto in 4 rounds...

Why are you talking about Antionio Margarito as a fighter Floyd should have fought? He is a cheater and C class fighter...

and Im not sure Pwilliams is in his prime yet, and Mosley is 38, and Floyd called himk out in 1999, and 2005.

pbf should have never called RA in the first place, floyd took a verbal beating that was just as one sided as tha mayweather marquez fight. i think pbf needed a wake up call though, he seems as far off as michael jackson sometimes.

Boxing fans are sick of the bull****.
Beating JMM at WW proved jack ****.
Beating Baldomir was nothing special, title or not.
And Baldomir was 3 years ago.
The man needs to fight Shane now.
He needs to fight Saturday's winner.
No bitching about the money, just fight.
He has great talent, but it's being wasted.
Can't claim to be the best without proving it.

Doesn't matter man, you missed the point. You are making excuses for a man that nobody is putting down. I respect his skills to the utmost, I just want to see the top fights available. Why is that so hard for him to understand?

It's easy to look back now and see certain things after the fact but Quintana went the distance with Cotto and then beat Williams. He wasn't some journeyman fighter like you said, he was a top prospect who had been int here with some of the best in the weight class.

Quintana is no journeyman with good wins over Julio and Williams. But I thought he didn't last the distance with Cotto. I seem to remember the fight being stopped in round 5.

IMO RA should've showed Floyd a lil' more respect but he DID ask the questions that was needed......he came in like "Floyd when are you gonna fight blah blah blah" straight from the gate.....not cool at all!!......the tone in his voice was too high to be talkin' to someone who'd whoop his ass with one hand......but I guess majority rules and he's allowed to skate like that on the PHONE I guess......all in all I thought he sonned Floyd and made him look like a clown......if I score it like a fight.....I would score it 9 rounds to 3......117-111 for RA
