Unbiased opinion on "RA the Rugged Man vs Floyd...

I just heard the entire interview and I'm sure all the Floyd fans are trying to defend their fighter and all the Floyd haters are agreeing with everything this dude said.

I'm going to set the record straight...

I think RA was being a little over the top when he said things like "Floyd you have only fought *****'s" or "Floyd you ain't never fought nobody".

Those things are silly, Floyd has fought some great fighters in his time and beat them all. (Well I actually thought Castillo I he lost)

The thing is, RA is 100% right in that Floyd legacy will be remembered by who he fought. Boxing is like college football in that, you are ranked or rate on strength of schedule. Floyd is a great fighter, a HOF no doubt but for him to say he's the greatest of all time, that's ridiculous. He has to fight the greatest in order to be considered the greatest.

Imagine if Ray Leonard never fought Hagler or Hearns? Would we have the same level of respect for Leonard now? Hell no, not even close.

I think when Mayweather said this line, he said everything I needed to hear, "Legacy doesn't pay bills". Wow, that one broke my heart, seriously because you can tell what is important to him. Money, money, money...I mean his name IS Money Mayweather right?

Say what you want about DLH but at least DLH wasn't motivated by money his entire career. He fought the best and challenged himself. I remember an interview where DLH said, "I have all the money in the world I need, now it's about my legacy".

If that same thought was in Floyds heart, us as fans would get great fights and no matter the outcome, I would respect Floyd that much more. Then he wonders why he isn't the most loved athlete in the U.S.....

Floyd is great, just not the greatest. He failed to fight Margarito, Cotto, Mosley and P. Williams in their prime. Then again, he made it very clear that he doesn't care about legacy, all he cares about is the money. The sad thing is, a lot of his fans follow those exact thoughts.

We have an entire generation with no heart, no integrity. Sad........

Why are you talking about Antionio Margarito as a fighter Floyd should have fought? He is a cheater and C class fighter...

and Im not sure Pwilliams is in his prime yet, and Mosley is 38, and Floyd called himk out in 1999, and 2005.

RA was right on the money. PBF's lemmings on this forum have attacked RA's questioning of PBF by whining about his statistical errors. For that they are right, but it does not change the gist of RA's words having been 100% correct. I like PBF and as RA does, view his talent as special, yet wasted. It is time for him to face Shane Mosley and whoever wins on the 14th. Should Manny win, do not complain about the details, just accept an even purse and fight. And this shouldn't even be a problem in making fights with Shane or Cotto, should he claim victory on the 14th.

Was he a cheater then? Seriously, do you follow boxing? At that time Marg was an upcoming fighter that everyone was avoiding. Let's forget this cheating stuff because it's not about that and that wasn't even an issue at the time.

Floyd flat out lied about the money he made and the fact he didn't avoid Marg. He does this a lot which is weird because he tends to lie on his money like most high school boys lie on their ***s....for whatever reason I don't know.

Rugged man is a moron, he bashes Floyd but pretty much praises Williams who has done much less than Floyd in terms of quality opponents and skills. Everyone knows Floyd should have fought Cotto, Margarito back in the day but he didnt so no point whining about it. Like I said before Floyds career is backwards he fought tough opponents on the way up to WW then reversed gears. Which is the opposite of todays fighters like Berto/Williams who padded careers with lousy opposition and now suddenly want to call out all the best.

I remember when I first joined here a few years ago I was bashing FLoyd for not making an attempt to clean out WW but back then it was fashionable for everyone to ride his jock. But I apply the same criticisms to all fighters not just ones I dont care for, unlike rugged diddy

Actually he's not praising Williams as much as he's just saying fight the best. Williams lost to Quintana, then came back and KO'd him. That's what makes boxing great, the fact that fighters challenge themselves.

Floyd has never taken a fight he wasn't 100% confident he would dominate in. He hasn't had fixes but he definitely has hand chosen opponents. Sooner or later, you have to take a chance.

RA's arguement was: Floyd you have great talent, but you waste it on unworthy opponents.

Floyd's argument: I'm undefeated so I'm the greatest.

                RA WIN, Floyd FAIL.
