I did not have to be there to know that ODLH would be weight drained you dumb ass. Even Stevie wonder and Hellen Keller could clearly see that ODLH was shot when they saw him fight Stevie Forbes. Are you telling me you saw a prime ODLH? lol
I guess you started watching ODLH about 4 years ago?
footwork, head bobbing, good counter will frustrate that jab. oscar had a great jab, and he wasn't spent yet in the first round yet his jabs werent finding pac.
cscar was spent before the fight even started...stop **** riding
I actually don't think so. Cotto's got a murderous left; His yab, hook, uppercut. That *****'s his bread and butter. Cotto can actually beat some fights with only using his left. But because Paco is a southy, i think it'll give Cotto a couple rounds getting used to before he finds Pacquiao with his jab...that is if he can find Pacquiao.
This fight should be a good one. Cotto might actually give Pacquiao a fight.
Whats key for cotto is this, hitting pacs body early, it has to happen. Pacs strength will obviously be speed and angles, but a couple of good ones to the body can work in his favor. Pac isnt exactly spectacular in the championship rounds and cotto can wear him down early if hes willing to take some to gives some.
Whats key is catching pac after he comes in with his combinations, pac is wide open after that, he also overextends after throwing that left hand.
The only thing though is that cotto is very suspect to a right uppercut.
cotto is a converted southpaw so his jab is harder than normal... the jab will force pac to the ropes and cotto will unlease bodyshots there. pac can't run forever and cotto is too strong and punches too hard.
will it neutralize? i dunno. will it push pac back? yes.
Thats kind of what I'm saying. Will it allow Cotto to control more of the pace (neutralize) or whatever phrase you want to use. I personally think it will be hard for Cotto to get Pac on the ropes because the guy does have quick feet. But just not allowing Pac to dash in and out as he pleases will surely help. In Pac's last 3 fights he was in and out whenever he choose to.
Only against Marquez was he more cautious after getting caught by counters. While Cotto is a good counter puncher I don't think he is as good as Marquez so I think another tool for him to use should definitely be that Jab.

thank you...not to mention, forbes tatted DLH's face up and he didnt hit DLH all that much.

Good point. I gotta check out the Quintana fight and see how well his jab worked against him. It worked very well against Zab but Zab keeps his right low so that fight means little in that regard.
Pacquiao's in and out style? One of the most explosive and best tools in Pacquaio's arsenal is quickness of feet and darting in with bomb's and quick combinations then darting back out.
Cotto has a very stiff and well timed jab. A big part of the fight will be if Cotto can neutralize Pac's darting in and out with his jab or will Pac be able to consistently shoot a left hand counter when Cotto (who sometimes drops his right when he jabs) when Cotto jabs? Making Cotto tentative in throwing it with conviction?
nice thread........hope none of floyd's uneducated ballhuggers ruined this.........................
Cotto's jab is his primary weapon against fast fighters.........its pretty stiff too.................it worked well against shane and zab......thing is PAC's head movement and rhytyhm which isnt that easy to timed either..........like the previous posters.........says early rounds determine who establishes what first.................will Cotto control PACs movement or is PAC fast enough to go in and out of Miguel's....................jab zone..................

Yeah, I checked out the Quintana fight and Cotto's jab was effective against the Southpaw Quintana.
I've seen in a recent video what appears to be a counter right hook for when Cotto throw's his jab.
