No. Cotto will neutralize Pac wit power if he does it, not jabs.
Lets Actually Talk Boxing: Can Cotto's Jab Neutralize.....

That "hands in the air" thing something that is completely unnecessary and I wonder why none of Pacquiao's opponents has attacked him right there. He already got hit, what's the point of risking a big punch there? It would be interesting to see if Cotto will be like the others or if he will attack.Comment

Cotto will have to use it, but I don't think there is any way to fully neutralize Pacquiao's offense. IMO Cotto better hope Pac can't take a strong welterweights punches or he is losing.Comment

Step in doble jab step out, step in straight left. All cotto has to do is half step back move left and tag him ala Marquez difference is this time it will hurt. Then step back raise his hands and go in even harder, problem is that as soon as he raises his hands cotto won't wait for manny to move back inLast edited by go1nbanana; 11-05-2009, 02:50 PM.Comment

Cotto likes a slow paced fight, where he can dictate and have the other guy on wait. Thats why he won against Clottey, he gave him so much time doing almost nothing. But when a fighter crowd him, especially after the Margo bout, he folds and his power gets smothered when he tries to fight going backwards.
Everytime Clottey was very active, Cotto was just trying to block, sometimes countering at the end.
Now imagine what Pac can do to him, knowing that hes one of the best in not being there after a ralley of punches. Also, Pac is great at cutting with gloves...Comment

True, the only thing Cotto can do to suceed is overpower him. Also develop a strong right hand because Pac will be ready for his left hook-drop right hand habit. He needs to trap him in the corners, and work the body BADLY.Comment

Pacquiao's in and out style? One of the most explosive and best tools in Pacquaio's arsenal is quickness of feet and darting in with bomb's and quick combinations then darting back out.
Cotto has a very stiff and well timed jab. A big part of the fight will be if Cotto can neutralize Pac's darting in and out with his jab or will Pac be able to consistently shoot a left hand counter when Cotto (who sometimes drops his right when he jabs) when Cotto jabs? Making Cotto tentative in throwing it with conviction?
will it neutralize? i dunno. will it push pac back? yes.Comment
