No. Cotto will neutralize Pac wit power if he does it, not jabs.

isn't it obvious that pac's not in the hitting range when he raises his hands? why do you wonder?

The only way to defeat Pac is throw a lot of jabs.

Cotto will have to use it, but I don't think there is any way to fully neutralize Pacquiao's offense. IMO Cotto better hope Pac can't take a strong welterweights punches or he is losing.

"all cotto has to do..." lol...as if it it's so easy to do? it will be a test of cotto's speed and reflexes if he will be able to do that against pac's speed. besides, that was a marquez style to counter, and i doubt pac still fights that way. he presents a different style of fighting now, and with every opponent, being unpredictable and fast.

Cotto likes a slow paced fight, where he can dictate and have the other guy on wait. Thats why he won against Clottey, he gave him so much time doing almost nothing. But when a fighter crowd him, especially after the Margo bout, he folds and his power gets smothered when he tries to fight going backwards.

Everytime Clottey was very active, Cotto was just trying to block, sometimes countering at the end.

Now imagine what Pac can do to him, knowing that hes one of the best in not being there after a ralley of punches. Also, Pac is great at cutting with gloves...

True, the only thing Cotto can do to suceed is overpower him. Also develop a strong right hand because Pac will be ready for his left hook-drop right hand habit. He needs to trap him in the corners, and work the body BADLY.

I will say this much. If Cotto's jab is as effective against Pac as it was against Zab and Shane then Pac will have some trouble.

Cotto has a very stiff and well timed jab. A big part of the fight will be if Cotto can neutralize Pac's darting in and out with his jab or will Pac be able to consistently shoot a left hand counter when Cotto (who sometimes drops his right when he jabs) when Cotto jabs? Making Cotto tentative in throwing it with conviction?
cotto is a converted southpaw so his jab is harder than normal... the jab will force pac to the ropes and cotto will unlease bodyshots there. pac can't run forever and cotto is too strong and punches too hard.

will it neutralize? i dunno. will it push pac back? yes.
