Because this will benefit boxing in the long. More people watching the better. What is the point of a great war when no one watches

Not true great fights will benefit boxing in the long run. You put on weak ass fights and that is when the talk of "that is whats wrong with boxing" or "boxing is dying" and "MMA is better". Oscar-Floyd did not bring in no new fans. People found it boxing and it had garbage ass undercard. You have Mike Wilbon is a casual fan on PTI saying Mayweather-Marquez is boring. How does that help the sport in the long run?

You have non fans and you show them Ward-Gatti, Marquez-Vazquez, Marquez-Diaz. And, they will become fans of the sport. True story I met this guy he is 18 or 19yrs from Baytown TX. He over heard a conversation I was having with a friend about a boxing fight. So he got into it. He is a casual fan. Does not know much about the sport. I asked him who is his favorite fighter. He said right now nobody but Corrales was his favorite. And, I ask why Corrales? He said he saw him fight this one Mexican and he saw Corrales get up from 2 knockdowns and KO'd the Mexican. He said that is when he became a fan of boxing. And, Corrales became his favorite. In case you don't know he was talking about Corrales-Castillo. Fight of the Millenium.

The point is. Huge ass #s with weak ass fights does not bring new fans. Weak ass fights is what keeps people away and drives casual fans away. Great fights brings in new fans and keeps the sport alive. And, anybody who loves the sport, is a fan of the sport. Woud rather have great competitive fights. But, somehow you don't. Which is quite odd... But, to each is own.
