I don't know about realignment, but I am bracing myself for another robbery against poor Glenn.

You're still missing my point. My point is that Jake Donovan doesn't appear to share your opinion that he's a contender, and I was commenting on that fact and that fact alone.
Also, being an IBF champion (or an alphabet champion in general) does not automatically make someone a contender, in the context of who someone needs to beat in order to be considered indisputably "the man" at a given weight. For example, Isaac Hlatshwayo is the IBF Welterweight champion, but no credible boxing analyst would claim that any of the top Welters need to beat Hlatshwayo in order to be considered "the man" at Welterweight. In most independent rankings he barely makes the top 10. Cloud has a much more compelling case for being considered a serious contender than Hlatshwayo does.Last edited by Dave Rado; 11-06-2009, 01:55 PM.Comment

You just lost credibility with that statement. Froch also beat Dirrell and Taylor, and as much as I dislike the way Froch boxes, he's a pretty good boxer. He probably would beat Cloud too. And most analysis would pick Pascal as the favorite for a good reason.I doubt that very much. I think Cloud would be the overwhelming favourite to beat Pascal. Did you see Pascal's fight against Froch?
And in any case, the fact is that Cloud was Dawson's mandatory for over a year, and if Dawson doesn't fight him soon, especially now that Cloud has easily beaten the guy who gave Johnson three extremely tough fights, and has won the belt Dawson vacated, then it'll look like a blatant duck.
That would be okay provided he fights Cloud after that, but I was objecting to the fact that the article doesn't even mention Cloud among the contenders that Dawson needs to fight in order to be considered undisputed champion.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 11-07-2009, 12:11 AM.Comment

Cloud maybe a serious contender in your opinion, but lets see how he fares against somebody that can test him. He's like a poor man's version of Glen Johnson, except that he hits harder. You're still missing my point. Johnson went life and death with Woods three times. Cloud owned Woods easily. He's already proved that he's a serious contender.Comment

Most people think Dirrell beat Froch. And Taylor outboxed Froch badly until he gassed - whereas he never managed to outbox Abraham.
I doubt very much whether Pascal would be favoured by the boxing experts to beat Cloud if they faced up.Comment

Yes he owned Woods, a 37 year old Woods, and Cloud does not have Johnson's defense or boxing skills. Cloud is younger and hits harder, but that's it.Comment
