The sad thing about these judges is that they probably ARE the best ones they have. Which if true says something about the amount of people with the desire to judge.
The Fix Was In!!!

On a similar note, I don't think judges make all that much money for a fight. I'm not sure how much, but I remember Harold Letterman saying something about not getting much for judging. That could also be a reason why people don't want to do it.Comment

Fights that come to mind for me with very dodgy judjing are Holmes - Spinks2, DelaHoya - Sturm and Lewis - Holyfield1 ther are more though just cant think of them at the moment.Comment

I thought DLH - Mosley 2 was pretty darned bad...and I was a Mosley supporter!
In Britain there've been some really dodgy decision of late. Any British fans see Vanzie-Earl 2?

I agree but Augutus wins this distinction, by a long shot. He gets jobbed EVERYTIME. His last fight on ESPN especially.Comment

thats what I meant about the older ones being 'set in their ways' and looking for different things in a fighter than the newer generationOriginally posted by beeatch! At least the younger judges would be able to see the fight and maybe keep up with scoring punches thrown better than the old fossils i keep seeing at ringside now. i've also heard back in the 50's or 60's when these dinosaurs started they scored fights different then we do now, they gave the champ more points for defending
To me when they have a history of outrageous scores (Hamada for sure) they need to be pulled cause for some reason he just cant score a fight objectively or accurately. For every fight I watch, I "brace" myself when they are announcing the judges...hoping like hell he's not one of them!

Oh Harold get's paid WELL for his biased 'views' of each HBO fight... however, he is their "unofficial" house scorer. So, technically he isnt getting paid to judge actual fights...not in that manner, cause his score doesnt count (thank GOD!!!!!) but he is well paid by HBO for his 'services'Originally posted by jujitsujnOn a similar note, I don't think judges make all that much money for a fight. in all honesty, ledermans card is often in the same vain as my own views on how the fight is going, ignoring the rest of the HBO crew.Comment

On the occasions that we get the HBO telecasts over here in Britain, I usually find my scores are similar to Lederman's.

Thats cool...I sometimes have the same score he does too (which worries me honestly and makes me question myself) but when it's DLH or Jones or Hopkins (all those famous 'house' fighters ) I see him giving rounds to them that they simply didnt win. I've seen it over and over again. On another note, I'd pay him $50 for 6 hr's of just walking thru his home. He has some of the best collectibles on boxing and fighters that anyone has seen. His yr's in the sport has paid off in more ways than one. He's a pharmacist when he's not on HBO (last I heard) but is a major collector of the sport and has stuff that nobody else has...I'd love to take my time just looking at the stuff on his walls at home!Originally posted by Black Jesusin all honesty, ledermans card is often in the same vain as my own views on how the fight is going, ignoring the rest of the HBO crew.
