why are philly fighters seem exaggerated?

I don't get the whole thing about "Philly Fighters"? What's so special about them? I havent' heard too much about fighters from Philly, maybe one I can recall is Meldrick Taylor, who had fast, flashy hands, but I thought he lacked power to stop his opponents from putting him into his permanent situation (brain damaged). Bernard Hopkins isn't much of anything to me either. Good fighters overall, but I had no idea a fighter's residence has anything to do with being a good boxer/fighter. Is this all part PR?

I just get the feeling that people make Philly seem like it's the best place to come out of as a boxer. So where is Philly at now? Like I said...exagerrated. Any place can be good. Same way B Hop would exaggerate his claims of being "from the streets" or serving prison time. The 10 year sentence he exagerrates when he only served about 2 years.

It's just a big fight town. They turn out a lot of good amateurs. Some go pro, some don't. From what I hear the shows are always packed in Philly, whether it's a pro or am card.
