After seeing viewership of over 4 million per episode for the Mayweather 24/7, Pacquiao-Cotto has failed to crack the top 20 cable programs.

In addition to low ratings for the initial showing (under 2 million viewers), VOD viewership was also low.

The highest-rated cable program was ESPN's Monday Night Football with 13.5 million viewers. ESPN also won the Saturday night ratings race with the Florida/Mississippi State game (5.7 million viewers).

I will post the second episode ratings when they come out.
Ok, so it didn't do as much as we all ( or some) thought it would. That still doesn't change the fact that it still is the most anticipated fight of the year. Are you going to disagree with me on that?

We all want boxing to move forward. We want more exposure etc etc...We all want whats best for boxing ok ok ok. But, what can you srsly expect us to do? Call everyone we know and their mamas too to watch the 24/7 series? Call all of them to make sure they order the fight?

You stated facts fine. No one is flaming you on that matter at least I'm not, but whats your real objective by posting about it here? Are you srsly worried for boxing as a whole because this 24/7 didn't do so well compared to the other ones? When Floyd/DLH had their 24/7 it was still fresh. People were new to the concept. Matter of fact, wasn't Floyd/DLH 24/7 the first of the series? Uhhh Yea I think so.

Please respond I'd love to hear your feedback.

There are a lot of pre-indicators to a fight. None of them point to the 2.2 mill that Arum is touting.

Whose prediction would you trust: Arum...or Schaefer?

          .

"most anticipated fight of the year" among whom? a small group of dedicated hardcores?

That is the same way that a hardcore MMA fan may be excited for Anderson-Silva-GSP, but the genpop wants Kimbo-Slice vs Brock Lesnar.

What will tell you how much something was "anticipated" is how much it sells. The upcoming Twilight movie is anticipated. It will sell big...right?

I'd say Schaefer. But I'm guessing Arum is betting on Pacquiao's previous exciting performances to draw more buys. That, and lots of word of mouth marketing.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

My company has a subscription to NMR...and to IRI.

We use both Nielsen and IRI. But if you want sales at Wal-Mart, you have to go through their Retail*Link system.

BTW, the Top Rank gym is huge. Looks so much bigger than FM's gym.

Don't try to chop up the statement and over complicate it.

When I say most anticipated fight of the year I mean by boxing. The **** with MMA I don't give a **** about MMA because I dont watch MMA.

How can you srsly spin this.

I am saying if you give me a choice between a great fight or high ratings. I take the great fight. I really don't care about ratings or ppv numbers. To me great ratings and great ppv numbers are always a plus. But, I really don't worry about it.

I don't want great ratings and high ppv numbers but have a weak ass fight. You feel me now. A weak ass fight does not bring new fans to the sport. A great fight does. So yes great rating is a plus. But, those ratings to me mean **** if the fight does not deliver. That is just how I feel.

Pointless thread. We are in the sport of boxing, not acting and ratings for a tv show. Ratings for 24/7 do not directly correlate on how a fight will do ppv buys. No one cares to watch two non Americans go through their daily lives but I bet they care to see them fight because they are the best at their craft. Also, just because Arum says he wants the fight to do 2 million does not mean doing under that would be a failure. Over a million would mean that this fight would be the highest grossing fight of the year ppv wise and also the largest gate of the year. At an added price tag if this fight were to do 900,000 buys it would gross more than the floyd fight which did like 1,005,000 buys or whatever.
