Heavyweight David Tua is looking for something bigger. Tua turned down potential fights with Kali Meehan or Friday Ahunanya and is looking for a more credible opponent. Fresh from his big knockout win over Shane Cameron, Tua was being scouted for the opponent's position for Chris Arreola on HBO's December 5 card. The money wasn't there and Tua goes looking for bigger game. Tua's promoter, Cedric Kushner, told the New Zealand Herald that his fighter will not fight in New Zealand next, but should return to the country by March. [details]

I think Tua can actually knock Valuev, hits way too hard and Valuev doesn't have much movement, I say the brothers can keep him off with the skills and jab and maybe even knock Tua late in the fight. -

This sounds weird, unless they actually have a world title fight lined up, unknown to the public.
Kushner won't let him fight Meehan, who is WBA no. 2? Not Arreola, WBC no. 4 and fresh off a title shot? Not Ahunanya, who at least is a decent heavyweight?
How is Kushner going to explain when he digs up some cold body for Tua, that it will be a more credible fight to get Tua a title shot? And how is he going to get Tua more money for such a fight?
Doesn't Kushner realise that both Klitschko's and the winner of Valuev vs. Haye all have a whole string of defenses waiting for them?
Maybe Tua should turn down his promoter and get somebody with a little bit of common sense?
Please remember Kushner's words here when an opponent for Tua is announced some time in many months....Comment

If he wants a world title shot, why is Tua fighting bums like Cameron and an aging, inactive journeyman like Ahunyana?
Why not one of the top 25 heavyweights:

HBO wants Tua to be an opponent and thats it. Why should he take short money so Arreola can have every advantage HBO gives him. Tua's thinking smart thats all. I would love to see him knock the **** out Arreola but if it is'nt worth it then why do it. there is rumors of ChegeavLast edited by xAUGUSTUSx; 10-31-2009, 12:52 PM.Comment

Here we go again with Tua not fighting. Tua should have told Kushner to **** off and signed with Golden Boy. He ain't ever gonna get a fight now. Poor guy just needs to ****ing fight 3 or 4 times a year and he'd EASILY get a shot at a title and everyone knows he'd beat David Haye, John Ruiz or Valuev.Comment

who the **** is shane cameron and didnt tua retire like 34123432 years ago. tua is done, he doesnt even deserve to be in the same room with any heavyweight champion. i think all that soamoan food is finally going to his head, he needs to retire. even he couldnt even get to lewis, what makes him think his fatass can sustain any of the klitschkos, arreola, haye, or even valuev's power. he needs to just fade awayComment
