people need to stop hating on one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves. he is his own boss in the sense that he gets a 100% of the money he earns and he manages his income. however, he needs the help of consultants to analyze which fight will benefit him not only economically, but his career. which fights are worth training hard for. he's a smart fighter, inside and outside of the ring. he's not going to train hard for a fight with risks of getting hurt and not getting rewarded for it. if the money is right he'll take the fight and before everyone comes and says "shane and pacquiao would generate big numbers."
yes they would but he's waiting for the boxers to get to where he's at so he doesn't have to fight all of the contenders. cotto still needs to solidify his legacy in boxing with what will be a huge win over pacquiao and pacquiao needs to prove he can fight at that weight class. pacquiao needs to prove he's really that good and not just a product of good marketing/publicity with wins over a shot way past prime de la hoya and overhyped english sensation ricky hatton (who can't even stay in shape between fights). not to mention they both walk around way heavier than the catch weights and they had to drain down for the fights.
once he losses in embarrassing fashion you people will see why mayweather was waiting for this fight to happen. he wants to fight "the one" and not have to fight all of the possible contenders. and a shane mosley fight? train hard to whoop a 38 year olds ass on national tv? to then have people discredit him again saying he won because shane was past his prime and old? come on now.Comment

[QUOTE=Horus;6527912]And how exactly do you know that? Are you part of Top Rank and know what going on behind the scenes? And Cotto was too green when Mayweather supposedly tried to fight him.. he wouldn't of made as much money as if he would've if he would've fought him later either.
So here are the facts..
Mayweather could've fought Cotto for more money and a better version of him didn't.
Cotto was more then willing to fight.
and you don't know ****.. trying to act like you have some type of insider information.Comment

If he's so great, why doesn't he take on the tough challenges?!? How funny you compare PBF decisions on who to fight to pac. When was PBF a significant underdog? When was the last time he was really challenged? Oh the shot, 5 years past prime DLH?!?people need to stop hating on one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves. he is his own boss in the sense that he gets a 100% of the money he earns and he manages his income. however, he needs the help of consultants to analyze which fight will benefit him not only economically, but his career. which fights are worth training hard for. he's a smart fighter, inside and outside of the ring. he's not going to train hard for a fight with risks of getting hurt and not getting rewarded for it. if the money is right he'll take the fight and before everyone comes and says "shane and pacquiao would generate big numbers."

Thats what great fighters do,people need to stop hating on one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves. he is his own boss in the sense that he gets a 100% of the money he earns and he manages his income. however, he needs the help of consultants to analyze which fight will benefit him not only economically, but his career. which fights are worth training hard for. he's a smart fighter, inside and outside of the ring. he's not going to train hard for a fight with risks of getting hurt and not getting rewarded for it. if the money is right he'll take the fight and before everyone comes and says "shane and pacquiao would generate big numbers."

take on all credible threats, or as many as you can.
Floyd waiting for "the one", does not make him anything near "one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves".
It makes him an opportunist.
Huge difference. You may call it "smart". In the real world of fighting, men call that being a ***** ass *****.Comment

That answer tells meDuring the interview with R.A he was asked who is he going to fight next and he said its up to his people. I thought he is his own boss?
Why does Ellerbe or Haymon have a say
they are just there to crunch numbers and give massages
so if he is his own boss why doesnt he just come out and say this is who I want make it happen.
Thats what oscar did and he made it happen
"were waiting for pac and cotto to fight so we cant fight whoeever has the best showing and generates the most money, i am my own boss in terms of how much money i make and the percentage, but not in who i decide to fight"
thats really the only logical thing i can make out of that.Comment

[quote=jab5239;6528056]this is where i got to intervene! What makes margarito so dangerous. In 05 0r 06, who did he beat to make him so dangerous? Your opinion isn't facts... Facts are that margarito had won his belt froma vacant title. He has still not beaten a champion!!! Margarito was not dangerous.
here are the facts.
Floyd wanted cotto before his star had risen and he was at his best
floyd didn't want cotto when he had built a fanbase and was in top form
floyd passed on an offer to fight a much more dangerous fight with margarito for little known and of no threat baldomir.
Floyd has been at 147 since 2005 and has yet to fight the guy considered the most dangerous in the division.floyd will not prove himself against other top contenders because he doesn't think its worth is time.
Floyd wants to wait until the last man standing to make a mega fight instead of taking a chance
you will go to extreme lengths to protect floyd and continue to make any excuse available to dismiss floyd from actually taking a risk.
Not only facts, but the bottom line.
At the time, floyd did what he was supposed to do and fought the the top 2 guys of the division. Cotto wasn't even there yet, he hadn't beaten mosley yet and was just as green as he was when he was at 140. And even he is yet to beat a champion, all his belts have come from vacant titles as well.
U can't diss baldomir for seizing his opportunity and becoming champion. Baldomir earne dhis shot at floyd in the ring and not some hype like margarito tried to do. If you want the top guy to fight you. Then beat somebody to get to him and baldomir did that.Comment
