He ruled an era which wasnt all that good.
He beat an over the hill holyfield. If he had fought the holyfield of 91 92 it would be a differnt story.
Holyfield could fight for 3mins of every round back then unlike when he fought lewis it was just bits of rounds he fought.
Holyfield is on the top of the list of the 90's above tyson and above Lewis. Forget about the losses recently.
By the way it is up to holyfield to make up his own mind when to retire not some commision. I want him to retire but i wont tell him too. That's for the ppl close to him to do.

I agree with that, there was a reason why he picked Kirk Johnson instead of Wladimir Klitchko, he was defintately impressed as everyone was at the time with Wlad(manny probably steered him away from wlad more than anyone)...he figured he could get a huge ko over a guy who had never been stopped and then walk away. If he had it to do all over again Len would have fought Wald when every one was in love with him(myself included), easily ko'd him and then walked off in the sunset, little did everyone know that the unccoordinated older brother was the real threat-which Lewis soon found out.

I have a tough time calling him the greatest heavy of the 90's, I think that may go to Commander Evander. LEwis was never very consistent, he would put a couple of good wins together and then get ko'd or look horrible, he never fought a great fighter prime for prime and I believe the Holfield of the early 90's would have whipped Lennox.

With that said I miss him too, I loved too hate him, oh boy I did, but his right hand was the best punch I have ever seen in the heavyweight division. When he threw it right it was not thrown with crazy/reckless/hard/bad intentions...it was just thrown perfect, the leverage he created and the placement of his right hand against guys like Razor and Frans Botha is something I never will forget. LEnnox I hated your guts(my wife is still in love with him and his gay third person accent), but I do miss you...Love Scap

I think a prime, focused Lewis would have been a match for any heavyweight of any era, even late 80's Tyson. Combination of immense size and excellent boxing skills make him just plain hard to handle.

While many might think he had "unfinished business" when he retired, there's always unfinished business on boxing - as he put it "that's the drug of the sport". He made the absolute right choice walking away when he did, at the age he did.

Though he wasn't the perfect heavyweight (2 losses to B+ level fighters), when you add it all up, he was a great champion. I think history will judge him kindly.

Most of the time there is unfinished business in the sport however had Lennox knocked out Vitaly his business was through. Had he chosen Wlad instead of Kirk, then ko's Wlad...his business would have been through. However he was down by 2 rounds on all cards and was hurt on a number of occassions in his last fight. His business was not through! When Lennox said there is nothing left for him to do in the division, he is wrong, all he needed to do was clearly beat VK, had he done this than he would have been thru with the division for good!
