Lewis got out at just the right time, he knew at 38 he wasn't the same fighter he used to be... a prime Lennox wouldn't have had any trouble diposing of V klit

      good post Jose.

You're right, Lewis retired because he was past his prime and defeated every contender that he faced. Why wouldn't anybody else want to go out on top?? He was pretty much done after the Tyson fight but fought again to solidify his status as one of the era's great heavyweights.

. Him being presented as the "gentleman" of the sport despite the fact that he's got a sadistic edge?
I think all great champions have that edge, that killer instinct that keeps them ahead of the pack. Outside the ring he seemed to be a gentleman though.

Lennox Lewis might be the best heavyweight of all time. George Foreman even said that himself. Lennox Lewis is an incredible fighting specimen, and there are always going to be bashers. That's why I don't respond or listen to the Vitali bashers, because most of htem bashed one of hte greatest fighters ever.

I wouldn't say that he would have had no trouble at all. Vitali is one of the better fighters that he's faced. people shouldn't underestimate Vitali, although I think the Williams fight will tell us a lot more about him. That is, if he can fight the way he did against Johnson again. I think he should be aggressive more, against Sanders the laid backness was understandable because of the danger of Sanders' punches.

What the hell have you been somking? Evidently the same stuff as Foreman (because I remember him saying that). Ironic as well, because if Foreman and Lewis fought when they were both 27, Foreman blows him out in two rounds, max.

Lennox haters always tend to be Vitali butt crawlers or bitter Mike Tyson fans. Lennox was the best of the 90's and he was English. Accept it people and chill.

                  Peace.........

i truly beleive that lennox's skills even at 39 are still good enough for him to come out of retirement and unify the division, however he does not have the mental motivation to do so and that is when he is voulnerable. But if his head was right he would be anyone tomorrow!
