On one of the previous topics fans go on and on talking about how overated Lennox was. I hate Lennox Lewis, he's smug, arrogant, and boring, but he was the best heavyweight of his time. The reason why people fail to realize that is because the public was caught up on more flashy American fighters when Lennox was in his prime. Just because he lost to McCall and Rahman does not mean he wasnt a great fighter, he just didnt have a great chin. He's not the best ever by far, but he was good enough to beat all of the best of his era(other than Bowe who ducked him)

I think I miss the guy more as time goes on... he could take anyone in the division right now.
But what do we think of...
1. Him saying that he'd hate to lose to a white guy?
2. Him being presented as the "gentleman" of the sport despite the fact that he's got a sadistic edge?
3. His weird hybrid accent?Comment

If he could take anyone in the division right now he wouldn't have retired. The simple fact of the matter is that Lewis is old, and he knows it, yet way too many Klitschko and Lewis fans fail realize it.Originally posted by AnorakI think I miss the guy more as time goes on... he could take anyone in the division right now.

Sorry, I should have rephrased that. I meant two-three years ago he could have taken anyone who's currently in the division.
Totally off the point, but I think the infrequency of heavyweight title fights has a lot to do with the decline in its popularity. If you saw a dull fight (eg. nearly every one of Lennox's) you'd have to wait months for the next one to come around.Comment

That's more like it, but you really think that all of his fights were dull? A lot of people seem to think that Lewis was dull, but I just don't get it. I don't know if you mean Lewis is boring or that a lot of his fights were pretty one sided thus they were boring. The only boring Lewis fight that I've seen was Lewis v. Tua.Originally posted by AnorakSorry, I should have rephrased that. I meant two-three years ago he could have taken anyone who's currently in the division.
