Friday has been semi-retired for years. He has never really been ana ctive heavyweight but he stays in the gym. Not religiously but a lot more regular than several fighters I know. But I haven't heard of him even being in the gym much lately, so I thought this time it was for good. However, Friday is willing to take the right fight for the right price; which I figured would be much sooner than this. given the fact that he popped Cameron's and Butler's cherry in two televised fights and he is pretty old. povetkin's demolition of Ahunanya is a textbook performance of a creative pressure fighter. I like Friday, nice guy, so I'll be rooting for him as the underdog in this, realizing it's in vain. Not a bad fight and it keeps Tua busy, which is what he needs to do against decent opposition for him to get a shot at Wladimir for the title or Vitali for money. Hell Shannon Briggs fought marginal guys and got a good crack at Sergei Liakhovich and got paid really well against Sultan Ibragimov.

i don't think he could have.

maori tv contract wouldn't let him out of their deal.

Good to hear that Tua will be back in action again. Not too thrilled about the opponent but I think fighting Ahunanya is better than fighting no one..

It could have been worse I suppose. At least it's a reasonable opponent. With Tua being restricted for two fights it's probably the best they could do. I don't like the date though, ideally it would have been mid november or something.

This is a good fight for Tua in my opinion, better than Rahman at this point. Ahunanya is a tough guy who should take Tua some rounds. I watched his last fight which was admittedly quite a while ago and he beat his opponent Alonzo Butler fairly easily.

Good to see Tua stay active.

ahunanya is a solid opponent who gives everyone trouble.hes an excellent gatekeeper much like barrett used to be.he's not a hard hitter but has good defence & marginal skills.tua should win but must not take him lightly.nice tune up for bigger fights.

Him against Arreola would have been a good fight. Too bad. At least he's staying busy.

Friday Ahunyana is better than 85% of Shannon Briggs opponents.

Briggs fought a lot of tomato cans, while Friday is a decent journeyman who's never been an easy fight for anyone.
