shiet happens. And usually the promoters do not let the up and coming star (DLH) rematch unless he was the one that lost.

Unless he doesn't even want it after he loses, like when Oscar fought Tito and when he fought Mosley.

I mean, Oscar remained undefeated and this was only Pernell's 2nd loss...thoughts?
Cuz Oscar knew he didn't deserve to get the victory the first time... He wasn't going to risk loosing...

This was too late a big fight, whitaker was already 33 when he fought Dela Hoya.

but he had 40 wins and only 2 L's after the De La Hoya fight.

Well DLH didn't and doesn't really like to do rematches was part of it but Whitaker tested positive for coke after the Pastriaev fight where he didn't look impressive anyway, took about a year off and then lost to Trinidad who of course went on to fight DLH later in the year, maybe he could've gotten a DLH rematch had he beaten Trinidad, who knows?

yea, I hated to hear about his coke problem. My dad actually knows Sweet P from the Amateur boxing and I used to hear him and his other friends (boxers) talk about how Sweet P's coke problem would hurt him eventually.
