Pernell Whitaker got his a** kicked by that bum Wilfredo Rivera!

    It's like...really, dude?
If you use the search feature, you will find a post that talks about how Pernell had more power than Floyd.

The reason I am not pissed is because of historical context. I can't think of anyone else who cleaned out their 4th/5th weight division.
What other fighter in history who basically cleaned out 130 would be expectd to clean out 147?

Pretty much all the guys "cherrypicked" or fought infrequently and selectively in their 4th/5th divisions.

      Agreed?
Agreed. But the times have changed...and Floyd has been cherry picking since he left 135. Now that he's settled on 147 - his fourth division - I ask he fight the best. TRY, dammit! Just once! Or ****, at least fight a legit welter. See, the thing with Floyd is, he could've been the greatest IMO. So it hurts to see him settle for just being great.

Having it a draw is also insane.

What about fighters like Chavez, Duran, Arguello. Did they cherrypicked at the higher weights? Did Whitaker cherrypicked. I know WW was Whitaker 3rd division. But, did he cherrypick?

More recently Pac is fighting Cotto. This might be consider cherrypicking but is still a 50/50 fight...

And, Floyd dominated 130 one of the top 3 greatest SFW of all time. Maybe the best. However he did not clean it out. How can a division be cleaned out when there are 2 undefeated title holders and one has 100% KO ratio.

You don't understand cuz you are lookin too much at the age. Vargas was fading at age 22, Morales was faded at age 29. Some fighters can fight to age 40 while some can not. Age really means nothing. Hopkin IMO at age 30 was barely hitting his prime. Some fighters hit there prime years earlier. Don't look at the age so much...

what hurt 2005 more than anything was that the hottest division, Jr Welter, never had any real fights materialize. Other than hatton/tszyu, which only came about because tszyu conceeded to fight him in england. What hurt 05 was hatton not pursuing mayweather, mayweather basically having to force a mandatory in brusseles to get to gatti, and cotto being considered to "green" to actually take on any of the champiions. that division saw very little clarity until recently.

im one of the few who isnt pissed, mostly because i dont feel boxers owe me anything, i view the sport in a historic sense, which is why i give him the benefit of the doubt, however i do know that many fighters before him, especially ray leonard, did alot of the same.

regardless, if his next fight aint cotto/pac/mosley, i cant give him the benefit of the doubt.

Mayweather came out of retirement in 2009 and beat the #2 (Marquez) and #3 (Mosley) P4P fighters back-to-back in dominating fashion.
