Brad Wright, being the honest and meticuless commisioner that he is, got to the bottom quickly on the contract dispute between the Hearns Camp and the LaMotta camp. After recieving an anonymous phone call with allegations of fraud, Wright was able to get to the bottom of the 2 contracts being different. "It seems that somebody....", Wright did not want to name names but the caller identified Blinky Plamermo,"... had torn the final page of the contract away and replaced the page with a different page containing a different amount of rounds" Wright went on to say that the bout would be set for 12 rounds as Emmanuel Steward had been led to believe.
Along with this news, Wright was confronted by his 3 judges for the fight with allegations of being approached in the demand to score Lamotta the winner if it should go to the cards. Wright was quick to take action on the matter. "As soon as I heard the news of my officials being approached I immediately called the National Governing Body on the matter and instantly called 3 new officials to fly in on short notice to judge the fight. This fight will go down on even ground for both men, may the best man win."
Questions were asked by the press as to who the Referee would be in the bout. Wright had it all taken care of and was in complete control, "I spoke with Frank about the matter. He said that he was not approached by anybody and that he would handle the bout as he always has many others, with dignity and pride in doing the right things. Frank is an honest, genuine, and dignified man. If he says that he was not approached then I feel 100% confident that he was not and 100% confident in the knowledge that he will do an outstanding job in handling this bout." Wright went on to appologize for the recent happenings surrounding the bout and promised that everything will go down on an even playing field. Wright is one that will bring pride back to the michigan professional boxing.
Aswell Wright has forbidden Frankie Carbo, Blinky Palermo as well as arena owner James Norris from attending the bout tonight. "These guys were pointed out as being involved in this. They will not attend the bout and if I had my way, they wouldnt even be allowed in the same state as the bout." Wrights 3 new judges for the fight will be flown in shortly. For security purposes their names are being with held.
10 pm is when the bout is set to take place. History will be made tonight as only Rumblin' Rockin' Promotions continues to bring you the best the boxing world has to offer.
