24/7 is for a sport not for drama.
HBO calls it a reality show.

You know HBO... the ones who created, produced, financed and aired it?

If THEY call it a reality show, why are you fighting the funk?

Terrell Owens had a show. Deion sanders had a show. Michael Vick filmed a show. You can have a reality show that is about sports.

WHAT DO YOU THINK "HARD KNOCKS" IS?

I watch these with my girl, who is a huge boxing fan (even before me). She sometimes will watch a repeat on DVR. She thought Pac-Cotto was atrocious.

Here's an idea Al, next week, when episode 2 is about to air, why dont you and your girl just replay the 24/7 where floyd is rollerblading around his mansion pretending that everything is paid

that way, you guys are entertained and we dont have to flood NSB with another whiny thread...everyone wins

Speaking for yourself from a uneducated point of view are we? If I grab a book, i'll read the whole thing. That's the purpose.

You want the quick fix, go look at some pop up pictures.

So, since there are no big personalities in this, they should sell "THE FIGHT", not the fighters. In Hatton-Mayweather and Delahoya-Mayweather, they sold their personalities, the Antagonism of Money Mayweather Etc,.

For this event, they should sell how great this fight is gonna be. Have Larry Merchant, Angeloo Dundee, Max Kellerman and a variety of other experts on camera telling us (The Viewers) of how great this fight will be. What a War it potentially could be between two great fighters. THAT SHOULD BE THE PITCH to the curious mind. (Btw, I like the segment where Kellerman had both the fighters sitting looking each other, they should add that.)

If the fight ends up being boring or not living up to it's hype, so be it.

You are exactly right, and that is what HBO said they were going to do in changing it from "Mayweather-marquez 24/7" to "24/7 paquiao cotto". they SAID that they were going to de-emphasize the fighters and put more emphasis on the sport and the fight.

It is only one episode, and I won't pre-judge their success in doing that.

But think about it: is the non-fan MTV short-attention-span-guy going to sit through three or four episodes of Merchant and Bert Sugar talking about this fight?

If you notice one consistent theme about nearly every sports show now, it is that hit-and-run mentality.

They spend a few minutes and -boom- they move on.

That is what made 24/7 such a novelty at first. We got to really know the guys. But after three 24/7's with Pac, and three 24/7's with floyd, how much more is there to learn? That is why i think that "Finally" will need a new type of marketing tool.

How many more times can you hear Roach and Roger slag off other fighters?

I've seen Floyd's Maybach so much, I can probably give it a complete overhaul without the repair manual.

The fact that you completely misinterpreted that analogy speaks volumes or your education level.

Ill break it down for you.

Mike and Steve both pick up a book they have never heard of.

They are given the option to read the first 4 chapters, but if they would like to read the final chapter they must pay 59.00

Mike reads the first 4 chapters, finds them boring and uninteresting.

Steve reads the first 4 chapters, find them very interesting.

Who will likely purchase the 5th chapter for 59.00?

Hmm, I d say steve because the interest he acquired in the first 4 chapters will make him more compelled to purchase the final chapter. Now Mike on the other hand will most like not purchase the final chapter sense he wasnt very interested in the first 4 chapters.

              You see my angle?

I believe that is what he was saying.

You watch the 24/7 episodes, and the last chapter is THE FIGHT to see how it ends.

                You guys are in agreement.

                violent agreement.

One thread out of 155,000 is your idea of "flooding"? Can I balance your checkbook, please?

As i've always said: You know the author and topic before you enter the thread.

ROFL, you're right. I thought they should've kept the 24/7 on lock, only for the Mega-Events. Tyson-Lewis (if they had that idea back then), Delahoya-Mayweather, and yes P4P Supremacy/Finally. They ****ed the whole concept up by overusing it.

Now i'll just rather see a long one-hour preview and nothing else.
