I think his point was that P-Will is not the most avoided fighter out there. That there are fighters who are willing to fight him.

      Just Like Youngstown Blues

Oh, Kelly, we hardly knew ye! Yeah, man. Hear them voices shoutin’ something ‘bout the bout that never was, may never be, may never have meant to have been or whatever the hell they choose to state, especially when ‘they’ have never laced up anything more profound nor difficult than a pair of Nikes.
This much we do know: Kelly Pavlik is the Middleweight Champion and Paul Williams is not. Paul Williams would very much like to be the champ of something but things are simply not going his way in this not so golden stage of boxing. This may be due to the fact that very few, if anyone, care to engage Williams in a boxing ring. This complicates matters for anyone seeking pugilistic glory. After all, ya gotta have someone to fight if fighting is what you do.
We know Kelly can duke with the best although his recent outings have been three curious tales concocted to build his brand. After Bernard Hopkins read him the riot act in a shut out which was most likely the result of taking on too many pounds, Kelly pounded out Gary Lockett and then, on a lackluster Pay Per View card, the none too amazing Carlos Rubio. Okay, let’s give the kid a break. He required a couple of confidence builders. Williams lost badly in his lone defeat proving that anyone can have a lousy night. It’s not as if he established himself as an unbeatable force of nature. But he’s tall, strong and an obviously brave interpreter of the sweet science.
Still, the cards are being dealt by the man with a bum left mitt which appears to worsen with each attempt to throw a hook. Docs call it a staph infection and this time around it’s made Kelly’s fist look like damaged meat from the local FoodMart. This injury is, contrary to all the cynics who think Pavlik is looking for a bail out (not unlike AIG), a life threatening ailment that is painful and prolonged. This is one ugly paw and should not be used to hold a fork let alone be utilized to punch someone in the mug.
So, what to do? The much anticipated December 5th shootout between these two men of the warrior kingdom shall simply have to wait.
For anyone to declare that Pavlik should vacate the title based on these postponements need check their reasoning at the door. It’s been nine months since Kelly has laced ‘em up. This is hardly a millennium when we consider the number of prizefights fighters engage in during this new age of fistic activity. The days of Ray Robinson, Archie Moore, Duran and Chavez are way over the horizon of thrills which the arena of dreams once offered.
And so we should exhibit patience and understanding because Williams would deserve the same honor if he were the injured party.
Kelly is not frightened of The Punisher. He is more afraid of the consequences he would suffer should he be forced to return to being just another bum from the neighborhood. If his once furious fists could no longer sustain the glory that every poor kid dreams of but rarely tastes, that would become just one more Youngstown tale better left untold.

Lmfao now we have doctors roaming these boards please shut the *** up. Thanks

I don't know but i can't believe that Pavliks team would go so far as to claim that Kelly was in that bad of shape.
I mean come on...That just seems alittle extreme.OK,so the logic is that Pavlik will fight Hopkins but is afraid to fight Paul Williams...Do the math...

I believe that Pavlik's infection is genuine. As for his allergic reaction, a fighter, being injured and cut far more than an ordinary citizen, must have had many antibiotic injections in the past, and, more often than not, if the guy has an allergy it would have normally shown up long ago.

But................also, a person can become allergic with no previous record of allergy.

I'm pretty sure he knew that there would be "cat-calling" and all sorts of stories, rumours, canards, and deliberately concocted nonsense, coming from the other side, supposed to give them a sort of psychological advantage. I'd bet his management have a valid dr's certificate to prove that he's not malingering.

Staph infections, even the most serious kind, are only "life threatening" if not attended to in time and/or if the allergic reaction is powerful enough to shut down the patient's internal "works". Clearly he has good medical care, and in due course, will recover.

All the howling from the other side, reminds me of the slander and libel spread around by Don King and Rahman, [and helped along by ignorant fans] about Vitaly Klitschko, putting pressure on the WBC who give Klitschko 90 days in which to have the fight, even though they knew that he had a career ending injury.

They drove him out of boxing, and I, for one, am delighted that he was able to make such a unique comeback, to such a degree of excellence that it's a forgone conclusion there's nobody "out there" who has a chance to beat him..

But, anyways how much time did Cintron have to recover from that punch?
Come on man. I'm not taking credit away from Martinez, and I think he got robbed of that knockout too. But he screwed around too much in the rest of that fight. He should've finished the job or at least put on some kind of show. He definitely deserved the decision. I'm not arguing about that. What I'm saying is, he does things like drop his hands and stick his chin out asking to be clocked. A good boxer like Paul Williams is going to take advantage of that. Margarito already did even though it happened a long time ago, and people view him as a ponderous boxer.

You become a big name by fighting a big name. The big names don't want it with him because they've got too much to lose. Only guys who might be good fighters, but have nothing to lose if they get in the ring with him. You being a Margarito fan, should know that of all people.

Kelly Pavlik aint scared of Paul Williams so i don't see why he would chicken out. He doesn't seem to be that type of fighter. He fought Hopkins and Taylor when he was on top.
He not going to run from Williams unless he trully not able to be at his best.

He finished the job the first time he won a decision the 2nd time. What more of a show can that man put. Again after the knockout how much time was did Cinton have to recover? It was like almost 5 minutes. Think about that bro. Martinez already thought he won and then he finds out he didn't that already has his mind messed up. And, then there is a 3-5 minutes break. He cools down. The momentum he had goes away cuz of the break, And, you expect him to pick it up right away? He still won the rest of the rounds. So I still don't get what he did wrong in that fight.
