Boxingscene opinions on Kostya Tszyu vs Ricky Hatton

[B]I wondering what Boxing scene members think about the outcome of this fight?[B]

I've been on other website forums and the general feeling I'm getting is that Ricky Hatton doesn't stand a chance?

American's/Aussie's and the rest of the World aren't giving Ricky Boy a hope in hell and think that Kostya Tszyu will steam role through him and the fight will be over in 1 or 2 rounds.

All UK posters think that Ricky will out pace and out work the Champ to a UD points decsion. ( I'm with these guy's by the way!) .

What do you guy's at Boxing scene think???

Well I think that Ricky is gonna shock the world....and fall down 3 times from one punch thus beating Zab's humiliating record.
But seriously my money is on KOstya for many reasons.
His outstanding power, his handspeed, his skills, his experience.
I mean I can continue with thesereasons for hours but I hope you get the picture though.
On the other hand Kostya is know to underperform against fighters
that he is supposed to ko easily(Leija) but thats the only thing that I can think of right now that is bad for him.

      lol

Well Ricky Hatton is way better than Leija. Tszyu will not underestimate him. However, I still feel that Hatton has a good chance of winning. I think it's 50/50.

1 or 2 rounds? I dont think so.

Kostya Tszyu will win this fight, but it wont be in 1 or 2 rounds. I think it is safe to say that Hatton's chin is better than that. If it took 12 rounds to beat Ben Tackie, I am pretty sure Ricky can hang in there. Initally I was picking Tszyu by knockout, but now I think It might be a mixed decision in favor of Kostya. He has the superior skill and ring intelligence:

I think people overrate his power. Knocking Judah and Mitchell out should not make you a "knockout artist". He does not have 1 punch knockout power, and needs to accumulate punishment on his opponents. Ricky though, has arguably one of the best chins of anyone he has faced, and will close the distance on KT, not allowing him to potshot him from the outside.

On the other side of the coin, this is about pressure for Hatton. He has to bury himelf in Kostya's chest and stay there for the entire night. He needs to attack the body, and somehow hope he can wear him down. People are also disregarding Hatton's punching effectiveness. I am not necessarily saying he is a hard puncher, but he is definitely not feather fisted.

        Tszyu MD.

What if you consider these facts:

Kostya Tszyu has bee out of the ring for 2yrs besides Mitchell who many believe was not only tailor made for Tszyu - but also a bit of a shot fighter having got a gift decsion a year previous against Lovemore Ndou. + he was 36yrs old.

Ricky Hatton is 26yrs old and is very very hungry.

If you cancel out the Mitchell 3 round fight - Fighting Ricky Hatton 26yrs old, younger, faster, hungrier, is a dangerous fight to come back to after a 2yr lay off?

You guys are slipping on Mitchell. Before the Tszyu fight he was considered the man in Jr.Welter. It was not Floyd nor it was Gatti. Also Mitchell was a heavy favorite against Tszyu because he was fast on his feet, good boxer, tough and had power. But now after he got Ko'ed you say he was shot and taylor made. Slick southpaws are not taylormade for anybody. Mayorga was taylor made for Tito mitchell was a worst match up for Tszyu. And dont start this bull**** that Mitchell lost because he started to fight like Tszyu wanted him to fight. NO it was Tszyu who made him fight like he wanted. It was Tszyu's ability to cut the ring that prevent mitchell from runnig around in that huge ring.

I'm going for Hatton on points but with no great confidence, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he got beat because you have to think that if Magee can drop him then surely Tszyu can do the same(Magee's good but not in Tszyu's league) though Hatton's never fought at this level before so it's hard to say until you see him in with this class of opponent so you can't totally rule him out, the cuts could always become a factor but I doubt Hatton will rush in there all guns blazing & get caught with something ******, he'll probably try to mix up his boxing with his inside work & as has been pointed out Tszyu is the old guy here with a lot of inactivity, his only fights in the past few years have been against guys the same age as himself(Leija,Mitchell both past their best) so both guys are really up against it here imo and barring any cuts problems I think Hatton can take it on points.

I've watched Ricky's last 20 fights or so and he's not the "One Trick Pony" some American boxing writers are refering him too.

Ricky had approx 87 Amatuer fights of which he won 82 or something like that. HE CAN BOX! - He just doesn't do it on the back foot.

He get's his shots off then he tie's the other fighter up. Then he lands some body shots on the inside and tie's his opponent up again... Then the referee breaks.

This is not bumbling forward trying to knock the other guy out... It's a controlled aggresion and his defense is in getting close.

I think he's being very under-estimated... And may shock the World!
