By precedens marg (and capetillo) should be sentenced as Panama Lewis and Luis Resto. The precedens for roid abuse is more lenient like it or not.

As others have pointed out, Cotto had lined up a Margarito rematch until Margarito tried to use plaster against Mosley, so to claim that he's scared to fight him again is ridiculous. Cotto is a man of principle, he has shown himself to be that on numerous occasions; and on principle he doesn't want to give a payday to someone who tried to give someone brain damage by using plaster. Margarito should be banned for life, and I can't understand why anyone who is a boxing fan would stick up for scum like him.

I'm not sticking up for Marg, I don't like what he and his team tried to do in the Mosley fight. But now that it appears that Marg will fight in the US again, I think Cotto should prove that Marg is a fraud who needed plaster to win. I think we can be sure Marg's wraps will be under strict scrutiny from here on out.

But I think the plaster scandal allows Cotto to tell himself the loss against Marg doesn't count. So he'd rather dismiss Marg than fight him again.

Cotto sticking to his principles is a good angle, but if he were such a strict man of principle he would not have renewed his contract with Top Rank.

Margarito could've quit on his stool in the fight against Mosley, but he went out like a true soldier. Cotto kept taking knees when one of them he wasn't even hit with a punch when he did it. My question is, if Cotto isn't willing to fight any of the other top guys at 147 after he beats Pac, is he going to move up to 154? Or is he going to fight a rematch with little Pac? He's like Margarito is. He's glad to fight Manny Pacquiao. And according to you guys, he has no score to settle with Margarito like Margarito was glad to fight Manny Pacquiao and had no score to settle with Paul Williams.

You're being ridiculous. Using plaster is usually punished with a lifetime ban, for very good reasons. Using steroids is usually only punished with a very short suspension.

And many boxing experts are dubious about whether steroids actually give a fighter any real advantage in any case (unlike track and field athletes), because they tend to make you muscle bound whereas boxers need to be loose; and they believe that the fighters who do use them are deluded.

If Marg gets his license back, which he shouldn't; and if he beats a couple of legitimate contenders, which he may no longer be able to do; then I'm sure Cotto would give him a rematch. Until then, there's no reason to give the scumbag a payday.
