I think that Floyd is a great fighter, but he is being waaaay overrated in this thread. He is undefeated but in his last few fights he has fought nobody that could even challenge him. And i dont think its cause he is just that good, but more cause his opponents have been B class boxers. Gatti has a few things going for him in this fight. He will have the power, and mayweather will be fighting a true Light Welterweight for the first time. I think Gatti will shock some people in this fight. Im sure he is aware of what everyone thinks will happen, which can only add to his focus for this fight.
Gatti: I'm going to shock the world!

Floyd is to fast for Gatti and will not find him in the ring. If he does Floyd will sit in the pocket and beat Gatti at his own game. Also Gatti cuts easily and when you have someone like Floyd in there with you that is bad news. Floyd by stopage in round 8.Comment

That's what i like to hear. Gatti is a true warrior. The man will never give up, and I am growing more and more confident every day of his ability to win. I was at first positive of a Mayweather Decision, but now im edging toward a Gatti KO. I love Gatti, truly is the human highlight film.Originally posted by rizfrom *********.com
Regarding Mayweather's extraordinary speed Gatti said that "people slow down when they get punched." Gatti, one of the gutsiest boxers of modern times, also questioned Mayweather's courage. "I don't know if he has heart, but if he does I'm going to shrink it." Both Mayweather his uncle/trainer Roger and his father Floyd Sr. (Oscar De La Hoya's trainer) have all been known to trash-talk their opponents. In a way, trash-talking seems to run in the family. "It also runs in the family that they have glass jaws," retorted Gatti.
tht last sentence made me laff hard, gatti i think now has a big chance of beating mayweather. i was thinkin mayweather on a shutout, but now i think i might actually pick gatti. we've never seen mayweather in a war, if we c him in a war now, who will winComment

mayweather is fast but gatti isn't exactly slow. i want to see gatti punish him to the body relentlessly. i don't want anything spectacular. i want what i always want: the brawler to get in there and take out the pretty boy with a bodyshot. i think it is gonna be a hell of a matchup.Comment

LETS SEE IF GATTI CAN MAKE IT . LOL, Gatti's going to shrink Mayweather's heart? Like he's done with his own balls? Gatti said you slow down when you get hit...exactly.
Who is going to get hit first? Gatti. What happens when you get hit? Gatti says "people slow down when they get punched." So Gatti'll slow down. Mayweather'll maintain. Gatti would have to hit Mayweather to do anything at all. Not going to happen.
Go read Floyd's interview on Boxingscene. Man, never has a fighter said the exact same things I've said to such a precise extent. Go read what I've been saying all along, from the mouth of madness, Floyd Mayweather himself.Comment

This is silly.Originally posted by Runw/knivesThe minute Gatti tastes leather, he slows down. Against a good fighter, he is complete toast. People give his chin more credit than it actually deserves as well. Like against Ward. It was hilarious, he was boxing and taggin Ward.....then he got caught. Ward of all people was making him look ****** in points of their fights. Not a good sign when a guy 10 tiers below Mayweather can hurt you seriously in a fight. I could care less how "hard" Ward punches. He is a streetwalker compared to Mayweather in punching effectiveness.
Have you seen any Gatti fights? I mean, seriously. When Gatti tastes leather he slows down???!? Did I miss something (like Gatti's entire career?)? When Gatti tastes leather he throws MORE punches and as hard as he can. That's a fact. Watch his fights with Rodriguez, Ruelas, Robinson..heck, even DLH. He stunned DLH in their fight, and that fight was ******- Gatti against someone who is so much bigger than him. Even on that fight he never stopped or slowed down- he kept coming until his corner stopped it.
And you are just uninformed about Ward. Ward is seriously lacking in boxing skills, but he was one of the toughest and strongest guys at 140. Nobody survived against Ward very long standing toe-to-toe with him and trading, everyone beat him by outboxing him pretty easily. If Mayweather stood inside and traded shot for shot with Ward, PBF would lose within 5 rounds. Gatti did stand and trade- and when he did, he lost rounds in those fights. If you want to say Gatti doesn't fight as smart as PBF, then that's true. No problem.
But don't even try to say PBF wins the toughness contest. Because that is a joke. PBF may win this fight with his skills which are obviously superior to Gatti (and pretty much anyone he faces) but Gatti is the bigger puncher and the punishment Gatti can take is mind-blowing- and he seems to thrive on it. Inferring that when the going gets tough, Gatti slows down and is less effective is just simly incorrect.Last edited by mECHsLAVE; 03-28-2005, 12:16 PM.Comment

When he eats leather, he loses his gameplan and does not fight accordingly. Yes you missed plenty of things, because you were blinded by how exciting Gatti is. Those three paragraphs were nothing but justifications for you overrating him as a fighter.Originally posted by mECHsLAVEHave you seen any Gatti fights? I mean, seriously. Those fighters you mentioned were complete trash, and this discussion has been done over so many times it is not funny. I really am tired of having to repeat myself, and I feel others are as well.
Just wait untill your boy gets thoroughly dominated by Floyd Mayweather. He is not that good of a fighter man. Not to mention, I do not think you have seen many Gatti fights......this I am completely sure of.
LOL did you even see the DLH fight? pffffff! whatever.
Ummm. No. I can name at least 5 "tougher and stronger"Originally posted by mECHsLAVEWard is seriously lacking in boxing skills, but he was one of the toughest and strongest guys at 140. .
