I am 47 years old out of shape guy( for my standards). But I still often train in the gym. I am in better shape than this so called boxer Allen.

Allen is a great personality and all, but as a heavyweight fighter, please make him go away. He clearly has no fitness game and is hanging around only for paydays. No televised fights of his like ever again please. Now we have to see if Phillip Hargrove has any success left against other fighters. Can't see Hargrove beating Itauma, that could be the nail in Hargrove's coffin.Last edited by richardt; 05-17-2026, 10:38 AM.Comment

He fits the plan of fighting Mosses ................ that is the whole point of this fight was to set things up.....
Hrgovic is clearly past his best, and that’s on him. He doesn’t train hard, he parted ways with the excellent Abel Sanchez in his corner, and that headbutt Dubois delivered never healed properly. He looked noticeably stiffer than usual in his recent fights.BUT — he’s still a formidable opponent and a solid top-5 heavyweight. Given the age of the division’s top fighters right now, he could realistically become the No. 1 or No. 2 contender very soon.
For now he is cashing out on the UK boxing scene.👍 1Comment

He always "comes in the best shape of his life" I was ringside when he fought Lenroy Thomas "in the best shape of his life" and he was terrible.
He doesn't even try in these fights he goes in there to survive.
He's not even an entertaining fighter I really don't understand why he has fans.Comment

Allen is something of a curiosity. He was pretty much retired a few years ago and somehow managed to secure these high profile fights by winning some untelevised but reasonably well attended fights. He seemed to imply it was his wife encouraging him to fight because of some home improvements she wanted him to make, but maybe that's just his deadpan northern humour.

Think it was more of a case of Dave Allen being brought in as a opponent who they expected to definitely lose to Johnny Fisher but he managed to win, so Eddie jumped on milking it as much as he could.

Its reverse psychology for the unwashed masses. Every punter in every pub across the U.K. has the i cant win but i'll have a go mentality. He goes in telling everyone he cant win...but "he'll have a go for the fans" and they all think hes doing it for them yet slowly but surely hes moving away from them into his new conservatory behind his new electronic gates.
